'Supernatural' Likely Secures Renewal With a Change in Showrunner Line-Up

"Supernatural" is undergoing a change in its showrunner line-up. Sera Gamble, who has been working on the show since the beginning, will step down as a chief writer-producer by the end of this seventh season.

Taking over the reins is none other than Jeremy Carver, who is no stranger to the long-running drama series. Carver joined the show in 2007 as a writer, before moving up to co-producer in 2009. He left The CW's series in 2010 to run Syfy's "Being Human" with his wife Anna Fricke.

The scribe hinted that in the upcoming film, the new crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise will face an "amazing" challenge that will test their solidity as a team.

Speaking to Movieweb, Kurtzman carefully said, "Without spoiling anything, the challenge is that you don't want to jump too far ahead and assume that just because they got together they're all comfortable with each other." He added, "They're still working out their kinks and still becoming the bridge crew that we remember from the series."

"The Hunger Games" director Gary Ross has not committed himself to the hit movie's sequel due to, reportedly, salary problem. Although the movie has broken $363 million in the box office, Ross would not sign up for "Catching Fire" unless Lionsgate will give him a raise.

According to THR, the first negotiations to get him on board of "Hunger Games" left a mark that prevented Ross from signing right away the second time. The so-called seasoned filmmaker took a relatively low wage of $3 million plus 5% of the backend gross for double duties as director and co-writer.
