Schwarzenegger to Promote Solar on TV Show

The actor now-turning politician Arnold Schwarzenegger is scheduled to promote the use of solar electricity in homes and businesses on the ABC Sunday night television show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition." In the cameo appearance the California governor will appear during Sunday night's episode, when a home is renovated with a solar photovoltaic system that allows the house to produce its own electricity, helping the owner to save on electricity bills.

Schwarzenegger is championing new legislation, known as the Million Solar Roofs Initiative, that would create a 10-year incentive fund to encourage both residences and commercial buildings to install solar power systems.

Oprah to Get into the Vacation Rental Business ???

There always be possibility for talk show queen Oprah Winfrey to get into the vacation rental business as the Maui County Council has given preliminary approval to a bill granting O.W. Ranch LLC a five-year conditional permit to operate a 12-bedroom vacation rental in Kula. None of the persons link to O.W. Ranch, which also lists an address in care of Bob Greene, Winfrey's friend and personal trainer, want to share the celebrity's involvement in the venture. So let time tell then.

Jackie Chan Gets Professional Spirit Award

Actor Jackie Chan was handed a professional spirit award by "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" director Ang Lee at the 24th Hong Kong Film Awards ceremony held on Sunday March 27, 2005, which also listed the star son Jaycee who was a losing nominee for best newcomer. At the same event Stephen Chow's "Kung Fu Hustle" was named best film, while director Wong Kar-wai's romance "2046" got the top acting honors. The two films indeed captured 12 awards between them.

In addition to those, there were also Tony Leung and Zhang Ziyi who won the lead acting awards for their roles in "2046," a follow-up to a story about an affair between a married woman and a man played by Leung. At the same occasion Chow also paid tribute to Bruce Lee, who was named Chinese Film's Bright Star of the Century and whose award was received by Lee's daughter, Shannon Lee Keasler.

Will Smith & Jon Voight in Italian Film Festival

Funny man Will Smith and pal Jon Voight are assisting an Italian film festival for children to Los Angeles, scheduled to run April 28 through May 1 this year and will feature more than 20 films geared toward children. Moreover, the festival's judges and jury will be youngsters between the ages of 9 and 17 from the United States and 15 other countries.

Announced the Giffoni Hollywood Film Festival on Friday March 25, 2005, both of them explaining that they are willing to do so mainly because of its focus on young people, by means of which such festival will provide a forum for young film enthusiasts and open the doors to Hollywood for a new generation.

Jenn Files for a Legal Divorce

More than two months after announcing their separation, Jennifer Aniston finally filed for a legal divorce from Pitt on March 25, 2005. Citing irreconcilable differences with Pitt, in the Superior Court petition the Friends star requested that he not be awarded spousal support and that her maiden name be restored.

There was no indication in the divorce papers as to how the couple will split their assets, which are considerable. One thing for sure, the two remain co-owners of their Plan B production company with producer Brad Grey.
