One Direction

This has unarguably been the most tumultuous year of One Direction's career. First, they had to deal with Zayn Malik's departure from the group. Then, they decided to take a lengthy break from working together for the first time since they burst into the music scene five years ago.

As a parting gift for fans before they start their well-deserved hiatus next year, the group is releasing their fifth studio album. The project titled "Made in the A.M." is led by " Drag Me Down" that debuted and peaked at No. 3 on Billboard Hot 100 after it was surprise released last summer. "Perfect", which may or may not be inspired by Harry Styles' ex Taylor Swift, arrived as the second single in October.

For their first Zayn-less full-length, One Direction showed off their improving songwriting skills while getting help from longtime collaborator Julian Bunetta who has worked for and with the band since 2012's "Take Me Home". In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Bunetta shared that writing songs with the boys amid their busy touring schedule was fun and easy.

"They're all just having fun and writing songs and flying around. No one goes into the place with a spreadsheet, a ruler, a compass and a protractor to write a song. ... Some of the best times in my whole entire life have been with these guys. Whether it's talking, writing, partying or eating, we just have the best time and a song is bound to be written when we're doing all those things," he explained.

"Made in the A.M." is set to hit the stores on November 13 and battle for the No. 1 spot on Billboard 200 against Justin Bieber's "Purpose" that's due out on the same day. One Direction has confirmed that there won't be a tour to follow their forthcoming full-length.
