Rachel Platten

Great things just keep coming to Rachel Platten. The singer, who dropped her first album in 2003 and then followed it up eight years later, has scored her biggest hit single with "Fight Song" from her 2015 EP of the same title.

The empowering track was first debuted in summer last year and reached a wider audience after it was featured in the Christmas episode of "Pretty Little Liars". Released as a single in February after Platten signed with Capitol Records, it has been steadily climbing up the Billboard Hot 100 with it currently sitting at No. 6, its highest peak on the all-genre chart so far.

Prior to joining Capitol, Platten released her music pretty much independently. She has said that "Fight Song" was written based on her personal experience of getting rejected by major labels.

" 'Fight Song' was inspired by a lot of experiences that were hurting me and that were making me feel like maybe I didn't have a chance in this industry," she said to VH1. "I wrote it because I needed to remind myself that I believed in myself. No matter what, I still was gonna make music, even if it was on a small scale. Even if it was just for me."
