It's time for Sevyn Streeter to shine. Having penned hits for the likes of Chris Brown, Alicia Keys, Kelly Rowland and Ariana Grande, the 27-year-old singer/songwriter is now creating miracle for her own.
Before starting a solo career, Streeter was known for being in group RichGirl. After the band split, Streeter released solo singles "I Like It" and "It Won't Stop". The latter song, which peaked at No. 34 on Billboard 100, features guest vocal from Brown and is included in her newly-released first EP, "Call Me Crazy, But..."
Arriving on December 3, the EP finds Streeter talking about relationships experienced by herself or by her friends. In an interview with Rap-Up TV, the singer said, "It talks abut the cycle of a relationship: the ups, the downs, the goods, the bad, the ugly, the fights, the makeups."
"If not they're my own, they're my friends. I call it 'Taylor Swift-ing that Ho' cause I write about what I do," she joked.
Streeter went on talking about her relationship with Brown, who signed her to his CBE label. She revealed that the "Fine China" singer had been very involved with her EP. "He's very involved. I swear I can call and ask him for advice about anything," she said.
"It doesn't matter, it could be a video, it could be choreography or whatever, he's always gonna have some kind of advice for me," she continued. She also said that she'd written many songs for Brown's long-delayed "X" album, but she didn't know which songs made the cut.
Additionally, Streeter is working on her own LP. "The album, called 'Sevyn' as of now, is going to be a continuation of the EP. But I'd love to have more features. I'm on a label [Atlantic] with a lot of dope artists: Wiz Khalifa, B.o.B, Bruno Mars. Hey, guys, I'm the girl on the label - let's work together!" she added.
