D.J. Caruso Offers New Twist for 'Y: The Last Man'
September 23, 2008 03:09:20Though adapted from Brian K. Vaughan and Pia Guerra's comic book series of the same name, "Y: The Last Man" will be presenting fans with several fresh twists. To First Showing, director D.J. Caruso has revealed that one of the changes would show a deeper connection between Yorick and Ampersand.
"One big change is that we put in a 'ticking clock' with Yorick and Ampersand," Caruso said explaining further, "and I separated them, and Yorick starts to get a little sick when Ampersand's not with him. I felt like we needed some kind of ticking clock so it wasn't just a boy and his monkey." Though offering several changes, the filmmaker insisted that the movie will open like its original book.

July 29, 2008 03:07:08So far, news concerning New Line Cinema's adaptation project "Y: The Last Man" are coming from director D.J. Caruso. Still, it looks like the helmer of "Eagle Eye" and "Disturbia" is not the only one that has a say about the movie. At the 2008 San Diego Comic Con, producer JC Spinks gives out the casting scoop.
Confirming that the production company involved is trying to get Shia LaBeouf for the lead character, Spinks brings in an even more interesting tidbit noting that he is considering to sign R 'n' B star Alicia Keys for Agent 355 role. Sharing his most likely choice for the bodyguard character to UGO, he stated, "...believe it or not, I think Alicia Keys would be fantastic. Or Zoe Saldana. By then Star Trek will be out and she'll be huge."

D.J. Caruso Preparing a Trilogy for 'Y: The Last Man'?
January 30, 2008 10:01:18Talking about the last issue of Brian K. Vaughan's comic entitled "Y: The Last Man", the director of the comic's adaptation D.J. Caruso hinted that the action sci-fi film may be a trilogy. In an interview with USA Today, the "Disturbia" helmer revealed that the film version will cover the first 14 issues of the Vertigo comic book which opens the possibility to make a trilogy.
On the film itself, Caruso commented, "For me, thematically, the most important thing and the reason I want to do this is...I don't want to say it's the end of the innocence, but it's actually a man-child who has to become a real man now." He also said, "I think it's a really simple, beautiful theme, but at the same time, the movie's really pop-culture entertainment."
