Four Paying Respect to "The Better Man"

Looks like male names are dominating the cast list of "The Better Man" this time. Variety has reported that filmmakers of the flick have successfully added James Earl Jones, Cedric the Entertainer, and Louis C.K. into the lineup to accompany leadstar Martin Lawrence in the comedy, apart from the inclusion of actress Joy Bryant.

A Universal Pictures production in association with Stuber/Parent, the movie centers on Lawrence's character, a successful talk-show host who starts to question his path in life as he returns home to attend his parents' 50th anniversary. Bryan is billed as his high-maintenance galpal who accompanies him to visit the family while Jones and Cedric the Entertainer will play his dad and childhood rival, respectively.

Here comes another comedic stint for Martin Lawrence. Variety has revealed that the funnyman will play a leading role in "The Better Man", a Universal Pictures production in association with Stuber/Parent production company.

It is said that Lawrence will be billed to portray a successful talk-show host who starts to question his path in life as he returns home with his famous fiancee to attend his parents' 50th anniversary. Filming is scheduled to begin in March with Malcolm Lee to both write and direct.

Previously worked on "The Best Man," Malcolm D. Lee is now set to direct "The Better Man." Taking the producer seat for Universal Pictures is Scott Stuber, Mary Parent, and Charles Castaldi.

A drama genre, "The Better Man" follows the story of a successful Los Angeles comedian who reluctantly heads back to the South with his wife and son to reunite with his family. There, old rivalries heat up.
