Exhibitor Relations' Top 10 Moneymakers of 2005
January 04, 2006 01:01:50Another score was made by "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith" after the flick gloriously became the only movie that managed to collect over $300 million in a year and that was the title of 2005's Top-Grossing Movie of Top 10 Moneymakers list compiled by the box-office tracking firm Exhibitor Relations. Also mentioned as the Top-Grossing PG-13 Film, "Sith" was followed by "Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" on the second place and "War of the Worlds" on the third.
The Top-Grossing PG-rated Film, "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe", took the fourth rank while "Wedding Crashers" came next along with the title of Top-Grossing R-rated Film. Lining up behind "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and "Batman Begins" was "Madagascar" which made its way to be the Top-Grossing Animated Film. The last two movies on the list were "Mr and Mrs Smith" with $186.3 million and "Hitch" that scored $177.6 million throughout the whole year.

Batman Begins Named the Favourite Movie of 2005
November 02, 2005 09:11:42Time goes by but still fans like 'Batman' the most. Apparently, nearly 15,000 film fans voted the action flick, tentatively titled "Batman Begins," as the Favorite Movie of 2005. Securing the top spot of the poll held by Total Film magazine, 'Batman' beats the like of "Sin City" and "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith." The magazine's deputy editor claims 'Batman' as "a smart but funny reinvention" and "excellently directed."
Other award went to actor Mickey Rourke who was voted Man of the Year for his portrayal in cult movie "Sin City." In the meantime, Ian McDiarmid, who played Supreme Chancellor Palpatine in 'Revenge of the Sith,' has been named Best Movie Villain. "War of the Worlds" star Dakota Fanning was named Best Child Actor.

Hollywood Movie Award Goes to "Star Wars III"
October 21, 2005 12:10:00New movies come in and out of the theater, but none can compete the best of the best. It's "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith." The film of George Lucas has been named Hollywood Movie of the Year with the movie director set to receive the award at the Hollywood Awards Gala Ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel on October 24.
To note, the "Hollywood Movie of the Year Awards" winner is chosen by the public voting online for their favorite movies at the Yahoo Movies (movies.yahoo.com) and "Entertainment Tonight" (ETonline.com) websites. From over 20 million impressions with more than 70,000 voters, "Star Wars: Episode III: Revenge of the Sith" received nearly one-third of the votes cast.

"War" Conquers the Universe
July 05, 2005 09:07:04The "War" has steadily made its way to conquer the box-office as it easily took in $64.5 from Friday to Sunday and an estimated of $77.6 million over the full four-day holiday weekend. With such attainment, "War of the Worlds" brought in a total amount of $113.2 million since debuting Wednesday.
After "War" we have "Batman Begins," which debuted at 2nd with $18.7 million. At 3rd was "Mr. and Mrs. Smith," with $12.7 million, while "Bewitched," took in $10.8 million was at 4th. With its total sales that reached $10.5 million, "Herbie: Fully Loaded" debuted at 5th, and soon followed by "Madagascar," which gained $7 million. "Rebound," went to 7th with $6 million, whereas "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith," was at 8th with only $5 million. The rest Top 10 were "The Longest Yard," $3.5 million and "The Land of the Dead," $3.2 million.

"War of the Worlds" Going Tough
July 01, 2005 10:07:02Among many other new release movies, "War of the Worlds" is going tough in recent days after its Wednesday release. Approvingly the movie took in $21.3 million during its first day in U.S. and Canadian theaters, while reached an additional $13.3 million for a global opening of $34.6 million. With such attainment, the "War" has becoming the biggest Wednesday debut for a Paramount Pictures movie. So, will the movie tops at the box-office??? We'll see then.
