Nicolas Cage Escapes "The Untouchables"
May 25, 2007 03:05:14Apparently comes to the same idea as Daniel Craig has done on "Blindness", Nicolas Cage has shockingly concluded to quit his role in "The Untouchables: Capone Rising", Variety has confirmed.
Next to be seen reprising his role of Ben Gates in "National Treasure: Book of Secrets", Cage is said to take the departure because of scheduling issues. The Oscar-winning actor actually was supposed to play the young Al Capone in the project, which will detail the man's early dealings with Irish cop Jim Malone.

May 12, 2007 10:05:28Embracing his Italian roots, Nicolas Cage is poised to take the lead in action drama "The Untouchables: Capone Rising", which will reunite him with director Brian De Palma after "Snake Eyes", MTV has revealed.
A prequel to the 1987 classic "The Untouchables", the project will see Cage play a younger version of the titular character, Al Capone, whose early dealings with Irish cop Jim Malone becomes the center of its story. Capone, known as the leader of criminal gang Chicago Outfit, was notorious for enabling the illegal traffic of alcoholic beverages during the time of their prohibition in the 1920s and 1930s.
