'TMNT' Reboot to Be Made in 'Batman Begins'-Style
April 28, 2009 04:04:14"Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" reboot movie, "Untitled New TMNT Project", will take on similar approach as "Batman Begins". Revealing early plot ideas of the new live-action project to MTV News, co-creator Peter Laird said, "I can say that at this point there are a lot of positive feelings about a 'Batman Begins'-style 'reboot,' which would, of necessity, include a retelling of the Turtles' origin story."
"Having said that, I would also be into an all-new story, if it was decided that that was a more desirable direction," he further continued. "Either way is fine with me, to be honest!" On specific story the new "TMNT" probably tackles, Laird explained, "Simply telling the story of what happened in the first issue of the 'TMNT' comic book would be a pretty short movie, so I suspect other things from the Turtles' history in the comics might be brought into it."

'TMNT' Most Likely Going Hybrid
September 10, 2008 11:09:44The next movie project about the four pizza-loving ninja turtles, "Untitled New TMNT Project", is going to be different than its previous installments. While confirming that there will be another "TMNT" movie, the co-creator of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" revealed that the new film will be made into neither a live-action nor a CGI, instead it will be designed as a "hybrid".
To MTV's Splash Page, the owner of "TMNT" stated, "As it stands now, there is no intention of doing another live-action film like the first three, with actors and stuntmen in actual Turtle suits, contrary to what was said by Kevin. We have pretty much decided that the next 'TMNT' movie should be what we've been calling a 'hybrid' - that is to say, live-action humans and sets combined with very realistic CGI Turtles (and possibly some other CGI characters)."

Live-Action 'TMNT' Confirmation Debunked
September 06, 2008 11:09:29Despite Kevin Eastman's previous confirmation on the making of brand new live-action movie about the four ninja turtles, "Untitled New TMNT Project", recent report has suggested that the news holds no truth in it. Writing a response to Eastman's remark, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles writer Stephen Murphy wrote in his blog, The 5th Turtle, that it is "complete nonsense and entirely untrue".
Prior to this reaction, Murphy has also squashed Playmates Toys' claim about the same matter which led to Playmates to change their statement writing, "Following the success of the TMNT theatrical release in 2007, Mirage Licensing is in negotiation with several companies about a new TMNT movie for release in 2010." Commenting on the revised words, he further stated that he "can wholeheartedly confirm" the statement, but still noted that the new film is most likely to be coming out in 2011.

Responding to the speculation on the possible development of a new TMNT, Kevin Eastman, the co-creator of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" has let out verification in a message he posted at Heavy Metal Forum.
There, the comic book artist wrote, "Yes, it is true. Although the CGI film did well enough to warrent a sequel, there has been much talk between Imagi and Warners to do a better 're-invention' (newest Hollywood buzzword) of the TMNT's, in a live action film - like what was done with Batman." Explaining further about the idea for the new project, he hinted that it may be dealing with the origin story of the mutant heroes.
