Weekend U.S Box Office of December 15-17, 2006

Three pictures made their debuts last Friday, December 15 and all amazingly have created such hard blow to smoothly secure the top three of weekend box office ended December 17.

Leading the chart is Columbia Pictures' fact-based drama "The Pursuit of Happyness" as the inspiring rags-to-riches tale successfully pulls $26.5 million during its three-day run followed by fantasy-adventure flick "Eragon" and Paramount's enjoyable children's story "Charlotte's Web" which score $23.2 million and $11.4 million, respectively.

This could be another perfect example that controversial work always gets most attention from public no matter what dispute it has caused. Following the success of "Borat", it's now "Apocalypto" turn to gloat as the R-rated Mayan drama satisfyingly scores $15 million worth of tickets to snatch the top spot on the weekend box office ended Sunday, December 10, 2006.

Despite the stir it has ignited, particularly among the descendants of Mayan tribe as reported before, the blood-soaked picture triumphantly pushes down last-week top holder "Happy Feet" to the second place after the animated flick turns out to only add up another $12.9 million into its pocket.

Paul Feig Accompanied by Minors

Warner Bros. Pictures is about to produce a new project, which will be a drama. It's dubbed "Unaccompanied Minors." The film studio even has hired Paul Feig to polish and direct, with Lauren Shuler Donner is producing via the Donner Co. along with Michael Aguilar.

Moreover, the studio also has Ira Glass to executive produce the project with Julie Snyder. Thus, the film is set to start shooting February next year.
