Video Premiere: Mariah Carey's 'Right to Dream' Ost of 'Tennessee'

While "Tennessee" is open for a one-week limited screening in Los Angeles, the music video for its soundtrack "Right to Dream" which is sung by one of its cast, Mariah Carey, has been put forward. "Right to Dream" is the original song that Carey wrote with country crooner Willie Nelson, specially for the indie movie. Willie contributes the guitar playing in the recorded version of the single.

Apart from showing Mariah in a studio to record the song, the music video also brings up some scenes from the movie. "Tennessee" is centering on Mariah's character named Krystal who leaves her marriage behind, picking up two brothers on her way to Tennessee to pursue her dream as a singer. In the movie, Krystal scores an open-mic night to sing her song "I've Got the Right to Dream".

Apparently one disastrous film won't keep Mariah Carey away from the movie industry as she has been involved in another feature film project called "Tennessee". In the indie drama film set to have its premiere at Tribeca Film Festival on Saturday, April 26, the pop diva will be seen portraying an aspiring singer abused by her husband. As many perhaps still remember her poor performance in "Glitter", the left-over question now is whether she will be better in this film than in the previous.

Early reviews concerning her acting skills in the Lee Daniels Entertainment's film come out with mixed feeling. In the article written by Leslie Gornstein of E! Online, it is clearly suggested that the multi-awards winning singer did no better than her Billie Frank rendition. Discussing about the reason behind the signing on "bad actors", Gornstein expressed her thought about Carey's act in the film as quoted, "SHE WAS BAD".

Mariah Carey's 'Tennessee' Gets Two Clips

As the independent drama film "Tennessee" is about to be making its premiere, two brand new clips exposing the film starring pop diva Mariah Carey get out on the interwebs. The two video footage came from two different sources, the first one has been outed by New York Magazine while the other was brought by MariahDaily.com.

Through the one and a half minutes long first clip, Carey's fans and future audience can see the singer's character, Krystal, sitting on top of her car's hood struggling with the lyrics and melody of "Right to Dream" before Ethan Peck's character, Ellis, approaches her and the two start a conversation. Further, like the first clip, the second one still focuses on the two main characters as it shows Ellis talking to a friend using a pay phone and praising Krystal, who later takes turn to also have a conversation with the friend.

The indie drama film starring pop singer Mariah Carey "Tennessee" reportedly will be heading to 2008 Tribeca Film Festival. According to the official site of the "The Emancipation of Mimi" hitmaker, the film helmed by Aaron Woodley will be making its world premiere at the film festival on April 26.

The Lee Daniels-produced film has been announced to be joining the list of the festival's Discovery Section on Thursday, March 13 by the organizers of the festival founded by Jane Rosenthal and Robert De Niro. "Tennessee" is listed on the category among 29 other films and it will have its world premiere with 17 other world premiering films.

Mariah Carey Takes Along Willie Nelson to "Tennessee"

Looking for great music figure to collaborate with, Mariah Carey has successfully earned agreement from grizzled country star Willie Nelson to work together in writing a song for her upcoming movie project "Tennessee."

Carey will perform the tune in the flick while also singing an a-cappella version of Nelson's "Help Me Make It Through the Night." The pop diva has already been billed to play the female lead there, a waitress and aspiring songwriter named Krystal Evans who travels with her two brothers to find their long-lost father.

Very taut, gripping drama of conflict, dysfunction and redemption. Excellent acting and direction. Superbly written and incredible choices for actors. Watched it in theatre yesterday and audience applauded at end. Great follow up for Lee Daniels to "Monsters' Ball."
