Story

Set in the 1970s, hippies Mary - played by Lott, making her thesping bow - and Joe travel to the town of Bethlehem, Md., to visit Mary's mom for Christmas. There, Mary reveals she is pregnant, but not by boyfriend Joe. The pair stay at Eleanor's (Midler) guesthouse for the holidays and soon the whole town is talking about a possible second coming.
