I will never understand critics. This movie is amazing. It's a shame we will never see the sequels made.

I cant believe anyone was ignorant enough to boycott The Golden Compass! It's insane, I am anxiously awaiting the coming of The Subtle Knife.

I really hope they make the Subtle Knife.... Ive been waiting for this since the first one came out. I think that many people are ignorant and absent minded... With that being said, not everything that youre told is the truth. I had a friend whose pastor told her not to let her daughter watch the movie... (I have 6 kids and we love it!!!) I got my friend to watch it and she was so disappointed in what she was told by her pastor. People are just plain ignorant!

If you have read the books you realize how controversial the books are to common religious/governmetal control and how putting ideas like that into our world could open eyes. the fact that not even the production agency has bothered to comment on the release of the subtle knife implies that they may not be releasing it. Other classic trilogies were atleast encouraging hype about their next films. If its not agknowledged then the "authority" can make sure it is forgotten... keep that in mind

If I had the money, I would do it myself. This trilogy will turn into a classic, especially when the Amber Spyglass will be filmed. But I guess every business is comparing to the Lord of the Rings' success, hence the delayed production. How sad!

posted by Fidelio on Feb 10, 2010 04:59:55

For part of what the controversy is about, is all the more reason that there should be the continuation and completion of this wondrous epic. The Golden Compass was a technically exemplary production with all the qualities of what people enjoy in a movie of this genre. Undoubtedly the sequential productions will be of equal competence and appreciation with this compelling synergistic story. Come on guys, it no longer matters what the others believe. It is almost over. But you still have a little more time to be those courageous entrepreneurs, as like those that make celebrated leaders, forefront in greatness. I am only one of the ten's of millions awaiting your action.

i love this book and i think they should make another one and keep going because whats the point of starting it and then not finishing it. i mean look at harry potter at the 2nd and 1st film it was not that good but then it gets good

I absolutely loved The Golden Compass when it came out though I had never read the books. Now that I have read the books I realize that all the controversy surrounding the movie was retarded. The religious meaning of dust was not truly explored until the second and third books. I think people got the panties all in a bind and as a result kept a truly wonderful trilogy from being created. Let us not forget that a movie is a movie and has to keep the story and flow going for two hours. There is a lot to absorb and I think that for a first movie, the writers and everyone else did a good job... Look at Harry Potter and what they have done to that series to make it something worth watching... not just a good read, totally different mediums. I want to see The Subtle Knife.

i dont think they did mix it up because dont they say something about bolvanger being in Svalbard...i still think it was a good film cant wait for it to come out

sorry about repeating my paragraph but the majouraty should rule am i not correct? but i think lady miaka is right you should end it at that part with her and her father. just would it be posible for a sooner date for the movie to come out

IS THIS MOVIE EVEN GOING TO COME OUT???

posted by bobbyjimbo on Nov 25, 2008 12:04:09

there was no point in ending the film where they did, it's only going to mean more work for the next one. and what was with mixing svalbard and bolvanger up?

posted by jenn on Oct 20, 2008 08:50:56

i was really disappointed in the golden compass. the movie ended at the wrong part and alot of major details were left out. i will continue watching the rest of the series to see how you work around the details left out. but i do have a question, Why end the first movie in the balloon with lee and not at the glacier with her father? it would have made a much better ending.
