'Smart People' Trailer Let Out
January 26, 2008 02:01:59After clips of the Noam Murro directed-drama comedy hit the net, Miramax Films let out the official trailer of "Smart People". The video footage that last about two-and-a-half minutes picks up the theme stating "sometimes the smartest people have the most to learn".
The trailer starts with the central character professor Lawrence Wetherhold telling her daughter, Vanessa, about him being called self-absorbed. Innocently, his daughter commented that the self-absorbed title is "underrated". Then, the video continues to describe Wetherhold followed by a call to Vanessa from hospital in which sick Wetherhold met Janet, his doctor as well as former student.

Three 'Smart People' Clips Put Online
January 24, 2008 03:01:15Following the world premiere of Miramax Films' "Smart People" on Sunday, January 20 at Sundance Film Festival, three clips of the drama romantic comedy have been put online by the studio. The less-than-a-minute clips let out scenes from Noam Murro directed-film and features the stars of the movie, including Dennis Quaid, Sarah Jessica Parker, Thomas Haden Church and Ellen Page.
In the first clip, it can be seen that Professor Lawrence Wetherhold portrayed by Quaid brings his former student Janet played by Parker to meet his family and to have a Christmas dinner with them. Apparently, isn't happy with Janet's coming, Wetherhold's daughter, Vanessa, prepares Janet's dish using her hand. The second clip previews the scene where Wetherhold realizes that his never-do-well brother is crashing on his house reasoning that Vanessa needs a driver. Further, the third clip displays Wetherhold and Janet in a hospital room where he admits that he hasn't been dating for a while.

Miramax Invites "Smart People" In
January 30, 2007 04:01:15Set to add more profit into its feedbag, Miramax Films has successfully obtained the rights to distribute star-studded romantic dramedy "Smart People" around North America region with an eye to release it in fall, Variety has learned.
One of the first productions from Michael London's new Groundswell Productions, the picture concerns on a professor who turns into a bitter eccentric following his wife death, but later learns to reconnect with people after falling for a former student. Dennis Quaid, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Thomas Haden Church have all been billed to play the widowed professor, his new love interest, and his recently surfaced adopted brother, respectively.

Sarah Jessica Parker Befriends "Smart People"
October 26, 2006 01:10:30Still attached herself to comedy genre, Sarah Jessica Parker has given her agreement to star in "Smart People" replacing Rachel Weisz who originally was billed as a doctor who falls for a professor whose wife's death has turned him into a bitter man.
Together with Dennis Quaid, Thomas Haden Church, Ellen Page, and Ashton Holmes in the cast lineup, Parker thus will come under the direction of Noam Murro who is set to helm from Mark Poirier's script. Filming is scheduled to start on November 6 with Bill Block, Michael Costigan, and Bridget Johnson taking the producers' seats.

Set to begin production on November 6 in Pittsburgh with Mark Poirier penning the script, the movie centers on a professor, played by Quaid, who turns into a bitter eccentric following his wife death, but later learns to reconnect with people after falling for a former student.

It seemed as if the music took precidence over the script as most of the time I couldn't hear the dialouge.
