The 2007 TIFF's Movie List Growing
July 18, 2007 02:07:20Continue to expand the lineup of movies to be presented at the 32nd annual Toronto International Film Festival, the event's organizers have unveiled on Tuesday, July 17 other handfuls of film titles submitted into the list.
Previously considered to be included for the event, "Eastern Promises", "L'Age des tenebres" ("The Age of Ignorance"), and "Silk" finally are positive to join the lineup, the former two receiving Gala screenings alongside Jeremy Podeswa's "Fugitive Pieces" while the latter one being put into Special Presentation slot.

Keira Knightley Exposed in "Silk"
February 15, 2007 11:02:14Not hesitant to totally go into her character, Keira Knightley is putting her clothes off for her role in "Silk", one of her upcoming big screen features set to open in theaters this year on August 13.
According to the test screenings, the beauty gets naked in a couple of scenes of the film, including a love scene while going to be seen topless for several times. This is not the first time the actress being spotted nude on screen as she previously exposed her body in some of her films like "The Hole", "The Jacket", and "Domino."

January 21, 2006 12:01:27New Line International and Picturehouse, which is the joint distribution venture between New Line and HBO Films, have acquired rights to Francois Girard's "Silk." Based on the bestseller by Alessandro Baricco, the film is slated to begin its production next month in Japan and will wrap in late May in Italy after shoots across Egypt and Asia.
Of drama romance genre, "Silk" is the story of a married silkworm smuggler, Herve Joncour, in 19th Century France who travels to Japan to collect his clandestine cargo. While there he spots a beautiful European woman, the concubine of a local baron, with whom he becomes obsessed. Without speaking the same language, they communicate through letters until war intervenes. Their unrequited love persists however, and Herve's wife Helene begins to suspect.

Michael Pitt to be the Male Lead in Silk
December 22, 2005 10:12:47Following fresh from the oven news confirmed that actress Keira Knightley has signed on to play the role of Helene in the upcoming drama romance "Silk," Michael Pitt reportedly has been cast in the male lead.
Pitt will then play the role of Herve Joncour, a married silkworm smuggler in 19th Century France who travels to Japan to collect his clandestine cargo. While there he spots a beautiful European woman, the concubine of a local baron, with whom he becomes obsessed. December 20, 2005 04:12:48Several different sources reported actress Keira Knightley about to star in the upcoming drama romance "Silk." And as KeiraWeb.com has confirmed, the star has already signed on to star in the film which Francois Girard going to direct and produce as well.

I thought this movie was very good. Michael Pitt shines thru every time he is on-screen. Both he and Keira are very intense actors and that worked well for them here.
