'Short Circuit' Remake Gets Writer

A writer has been hired by Dimension Films to develop their remake project, "Short Circuit". Variety claimed that the studio are appointing screenwriter Dan Milano to pen the movie's new script.

Milano is known for his writing and voice acting work for stop motion animated series "Robot Chicken". He also co-created and played the title character in FOX sitcom, "Greg the Bunny". On his involvement with the "Short Circuit" project, producer David Foster said that Milano watched the original movie while he was in high school, and is interested in updating the concept.

Good News are coming to the 'Johnny 5' fans as it was reported that "Short Circuit", the remake of the 1986 film, has gotten the green light to be brought to the big screen. According to Variety, the screen right of the sci-fi comedy film has been acquired by Dimension Film.

Reportedly, the deal was settled by the studio's co-chairman Bob Weinstein. Variety further noted that Weinstein commented about the picking up of the film by the studio stating the film is "a worthy addition to its family film slate". Additionally, the film is said to be written by the creators of the film's characters, S.S. Wilson and Brent Maddock, and it will be produced by David Foster, Ryan E. Heppe and John Hyde.
