'Public Enemies' Glams Up for World Premiere

After hosting the Los Angeles premiere of "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" Monday, June 22, Mann Village Theatre was used for the world premiere of "Public Enemies". On Tuesday evening, June 23, the movie which is the centerpiece of 2009 Los Angeles Film Festival received its red carpet treatment.

While it was not as star-studded as the premiere of the "Transformers" sequel, the special screening still saw the attendance of Hollywood A-listers. Johnny Depp, Christian Bale and Marion Cotillard were among them. The three were also joined by director Michael Mann and cast members, including Stephen Dorff, Giovanni Ribisi, LeeLee Sobieski and Carey Mulligan.

Yahoo! Movies has got a hold of the first ever clip from "Public Enemies" and has put it out for viewing pleasure. Entitled "Assault", the one minute sneak peek features the action scene wherein John Dillinger and his outlaw gang are fighting back the police raid led by FBI Agent Melvin Purvis in the middle of the night.

From the director of "Collateral" comes "Public Enemies", a movie about charismatic bank robber Dillinger whose lightning raids made him the number one target of J. Edgar Hoover's fledgling FBI and its top agent Purvis, and a folk hero to much of the downtrodden public. It is adapted from Bryan Burrough's book "Public Enemies: America's Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933-34".

A brand new featurette of "Public Enemies" has made its way out. Filled with footage from the forthcoming crime drama, the video contains also commentary from director Michael Mann as well as two of the movie's stars, Johnny Depp and Christian Bale. All of them discussed mostly on John Dillinger who becomes the center of the story in the movie.

The two newly-released TV spots for "Public Enemies" offer never-before-seen footage as well as fresh dialog. Clocking in at around 30 seconds each, the two television promos titled "Indiana" and "Myth" were shown during the NBA playoffs and focus on presenting Johnny Depp as American legend John Dillinger.

"Public Enemies" revolves around legendary Depression-era outlaw John Dillinger and FBI agent Melvin Purvis. In the time when the Great Depression storms America, Dillinger and his gang are unstoppable in robbing banks. Trying to elevate his Bureau of Investigation into the national police force that became the FBI, J. Three Character Posters of 'Public Enemies' Come Out

Gearing up to the July theatrical release of "Public Enemies", Universal Pictures have brought forth three brand new character posters for the forthcoming crime drama film. Each of the one-sheets takes a close-up look at Johnny Depp as John Dillinger, Marion Cotillard as Billie Frechette and Christian Bale as FBI's top agent Melvin Purvis.

Both of the Dillinger and Purvis' posters see Depp and Bale with gun in their hand. Dillinger's one-sheet displays the bank robber hanging on a car with one hand and handling his gun with the other, while Purvis' exhibits the agent standing vigilant behind a tree. Frechette's poster, on the other hand, exposes the Dillinger's lover wearing fur shawl.

Second Impressive 'Public Enemies' Trailer Arrives

"In 1933, America's most notorious criminal was finally brought to justice", a newly-released trailer of "Public Enemies" begins. Accompanied by gloomy music, the promotional footage of the crime drama moves on showing Johnny Depp as Depression-era outlaw John Dillinger is brought into a room filled with press after being captured by the Federal agents.

While parts of this new trailer show similar footage to the ones seen in the first trailer, it in addition presents a dark 1930s flavor with it being more moody and dramatic. The trailer also focuses more on the relationship between Dillinger and Marion Cotillard's Billie Frechette, and the vow of Melvin Purvis, played by Christian Bale, to bring down Dillinger no matter what it takes.

No Cross-Dressing FBI Chief in Johnny Depp-Starring 'Public Enemies'

With the first trailer of "Public Enemies" available to see, Billy Crudup gave parts of his time to discuss about his J. Edgar Hoover portrayal and what to expect from his character in the crime drama movie. In an interview with MTV, he revealed that the supposed cross-dresser Hoover won't be seen a cross-dresser, stating "I won't be [cross-dressing] - well, not on film."

Giving more on his part, the "Watchmen" actor described his role as "a supporting part". He added, "It's kind of a cameo." On the significant part of his Hoover character, the 40-year-old pointed out on the film's central story, "It's a movie that's really about Purvis and Dillinger. I'm there to get Christian Bale motivated to go and get Johnny Depp."

Official 'Public Enemies' Trailer Rolls Out

The first trailer for "Public Enemies" has been debuted by Universal Pictures on Apple. It teases on how director Michael Mann brings the story of legendary Depression-era outlaw John Dillinger to the big screen, and reels in a closer look at Johnny Depp as Dillinger, Marion Cotillard as Billie Frechette and Christian Bale as FBI's top agent Melvin Purvis.

The trailer starts with a scene in which Dillinger leads a group of men in raiding a bank, while a voice over of Frechette is heard, asking Dillinger of what he's done for a living, the question that he answers simply with a true fact, robbing banks. The footage then cuts to the announcement of first U.S. war against crime, and a snippet of Purvis being assigned to get Dillinger behind bars. But, as soon as Dillinger is arrested, he makes his swift escape and starts the wild police chase to catch him once again.

Before the new trailer of "Public Enemies" is made public, Entertainment Tonight has shown a promo footage for the exclusive sneak peek at the action thriller movie. Presenting a fast-paced compilation of clips, the promotional video displays more of the gun-fighting sequences and gives out another take on both Johnny Depp and Christian Bale's characters.

The Entertainment Tonight sneak peek will be available to be seen on Wednesday, March 4, at 6:30 P.M. Central, with a re-airing on Thursday, March 5, at 1:05 A.M. Central. Meanwhile, the trailer itself is said to debut on March 4 on Apple with a theatrical screening schedule on March 6, attached to the highly-anticipated "Watchmen".

The star of "La Vie en Rose", Marion Cotillard, is reportedly going to join Johnny Depp and Christian Bale in Universal Pictures' latest project "Public Enemies". The actress nominated for an Academy Award for her portrayal of Edith Piaf in "Rose" has been set to star in the Depression-era crime drama.

According to Variety, Cotillard was chosen by "Enemies" helmer Michael Mann to depict Billie Frechette, the singer girlfriend of the country's most notorious gangster John Dillinger. Aside from starring opposite Depp and Bale, the 32-year-old French actress will play alongside Channing Tatum, Giovanni Ribisi, Stephen Dorff and Jason Clarke.

I don't really care for hand held photography within motion pictures. You can tell from the clips that that is how it was filmed. The only decent actor in the movie is Johnny Depp also. I don't care for Christian Bales' acting very much at all. So I hope Johnny Depp can save the movie.

the cinamotgraphy in this was AMAZING. it added so much to the movie, and theres on fight scene and they used no filters on the camera, it looked so amazing,im in love with it.
