Nominees Revealed for The 20th Annual Kids' Choice Awards' Movie Slots

An award event in which winners are voted by the children who watch Nickelodeon cable channel, the Kids' Choice Awards has finally unveiled its lineup of nominees for film categories as it is held for the twentieth time this year.

Competing for the title of Favorite Male Movie Star are four well-known talents of Jack Black, Johnny Depp, Adam Sandler, and Will Smith while those like Halle Berry, Dakota Fanning, Keira Knightley, and Sarah Jessica Parker all scoring in the Female side.

The racing to be the best has already begun for animated features as International Animated Film Society ASIFA-Hollywood announced Monday, December 4 the nominees of its 34th annual Annie Awards set to take place at the Alex Theater in Glendale, California on February 11, 2007.

Leading the nominations were DreamWorks Animation's "Flushed Away" and Disney/Pixar's "Cars" which each earned nine nods; the former landed those for writing, storyboarding, and voice acting for Ian McKellen to name few while the latter scored in Best Animated Feature and Best Directing in an Animated Feature Production Categories among others.

Building up the hype surrounding the anticipation of next year's Academy Awards, sixteen full-length animated pictures have been passed the qualification to compete for being five Best Animated Feature nominees, which will be announced by the officials on January 23, 2007.

Walt Disney Pictures, DreamWorks Animation, and 20th Century Fox each managed to make two entries for the competition: Disney with "Cars" and "The Wild", DreamWorks with "Flushed Away" and "Over the Hedge", while Fox with "Ice Age: The Meltdown" and "Everyone's Hero."

The hype surrounding "Borat" has played its role effectively to the benefit of the flick for sure. Thanks to it, the mockumentary comedy could really strive high to score big at $26.4 million and so, proclaims itself the top holder of the weekend box office for November 3-5, 2006.

Opened in only 837 theaters, the flick averaged a whopping $31,511 per theater, outdistancing runner-up "The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause" which averaged $5,784 in 3,458 cinemas to make up a $19.5 million booty in its debut on the chart. Trailing close behind is DreamWorks' animated picture "Flushed Away" following its decent effort to gain $18.8 million in 3,707 outlets.

Even the coming of recent blockbuster movies cannot overthrow the reign of "The Devil Wears Prada" on weekend international box office.

For the fourth time in a row, the 20th Century Fox's drama comedy becomes the top grossing picture on the chart ended October 29, 2006, scoring $17.6 million from 53 markets to thus raise its total sum to $130.4 million so far.

The glory of animation is back, thanks to "Open Season." Striving high with $23 million it has collected after opening on Friday, September 29, the flick delightfully has claimed the top position for weekend box office ended October 1, 2006, one notch above fellow newcomer "The Guardian."

Though failed to beat out the CG animated feature, the Touchstone Pictures production scores great enough on the chart as it managed to draw $18 million into its pocket, besting the last-week champ "Jackass: Number Two" which this time managed to generate another $14.6 million to make a total domestic gross of $52 million so far.
