Blinding flashlights marked New York City's DGA Theatre as principal cast members and VIP guests came down to attend the world premiere of Fox-Walden's "" on Sunday, November 11, 2007.

From the former lineup, there spotted , , , and 11-year-old Zach Mills, who plays Eric Applebaum, the Hat Collector in the drama fantasy. As the only lady in the pack, Portman made quite a bright appearance that day, dressed in a leggy hot pink mini-dress and metallic shoes while flashing her warm smile throughout.

Making a very unusual move in its marketing campaign for "", Fox-Walden, along with the Los Angeles Times, announced on September 4, 2007 that it would post the first ever ad using scented ink for the film in the paper's annual Fall Movie Sneaks section on September 9.

"The scented ink ad is yet the latest tool The Times is offering its advertisers as they continue to search for new ways to reach, excite and inform L.A.'s market of buzz," Los Angeles Times Media Group's executive vice president and general manager Dave Murphy remarked. "Fox Walden has been a terrific partner as we roll-out this bold concept and underscores our industry leading ability to create unique marketing solutions."

Underlining the beginning of new force in film industry, now possibly is more than just a fantasy flick then. Yes, the picture will be the first big screen feature to be released under the new banner formed by Fox Filmed Entertainment and Walden Media. The two film companies have confirmed on Wednesday 9 that they have joined forces to both market and release G-rated or PG-rated films together for the family audience.

With this mutual pact, Fox thus will contribute a number of current and newly developed projects to the joint venture while Walden sets to bring in its future motion picture development slate as well. "We look forward to this new alliance with Walden Media, an industry leader and innovator in reaching family audiences," Fox Filmed Entertainment Chairmen and Chief Executive Officers Jim Gianopulos and Tom Rothman have remarked in a statement. One more person added to the cast of "." Actor has joined and to star in the upcoming comedy drama flick which will be directed by Zach Helm and starts shooting next month.

The film tells the story of a toy store owner who tries to lift the spirits of his depressed store manager by bequeathing her the shop. As of Bateman, he's set to play a precocious accountant hired to ascertain the establishment's worth.
