Revealed, List of Studios' Priorities of Movies to Be Made Before the Strike
September 14, 2007 11:09:18With the impending Writers Guild, Directors Guild, and Screen Actors Guild strike next year, many are wondering which movies the film studios put priority over before the strike hits in June 2008. Lucky for us, a full list of titles selected has already been put online by ComingSoon.net, which also contains handfuls of interesting info about some of them and the directors attached.
Along with the revelation, the site, however, does warn that some of the helmers mentioned may not have actually signed on or agreed to make the flick their next projects. Meanwhile, here are some points worth to take notice of from the list:

Liev Schreiber Slays the "Sea Monsters"
July 11, 2007 04:07:56Willingly lending his deep voice, "The Painted Veil" star Liev Schreiber has come onboard to narrate "Sea Monsters: A Prehistoric Adventure", a large-screen feature from National Geographic set to have its premiere globally in both 3D and 2D at IMAX and other specialty theaters on October 5 this year.
Presenting a combination of live action and CG animation, the movie is intended to take audiences back 80 million years to explore the lives of dinosaur-era ocean dwellers. Lisa Truitt serves as the producer with the likes of Xavier Lestourneaud, Suzette Barnett, and David Harrisson working in the visual effect department.

Nominees Announced for the 18th Annual PGA Awards
January 04, 2007 01:01:51Continuing its tradition in recognizing lauded works and names in show business that has been running since 1990, the Producers Guild of America has unveiled the list of contenders for its 2007 PGA Awards, formerly known as the Golden Laurel Awards, scheduled to be presented on January 20 in Los Angeles.
For top honor of Best Theatrical Picture, the organization cast its picks on "Babel", "The Departed" "Dreamgirls", "Little Miss Sunshine", and "The Queen" as the nominees while included "Cars", "Flushed Away", "Happy Feet", "Ice Age: The Meltdown", and "Monster House" to be those in Best Animated Theatrical Motion Pictures category.

The 12th Annual Critics' Choice Awards Contenders
December 13, 2006 10:12:36The largest critics' organization in U.S and Canada, the Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) revealed yesterday, December 12, the nominees of its Critics' Choice Awards to compete for being the best as it holds the ceremony on January 12 at the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium.
"Dreamgirls", "Babel", "The Departed", and "Little Miss Sunshine" scored most nominations with seven nods apiece, including that for Best Picture. Those four were joined by six other movies in the category namely "Blood Diamond", "Little Children", "Notes on a Scandal", "The Queen", "Letters From Iwo Jima", and "United 93", the latter two already snatching two film awards each.

The 34th Annual Annie Awards Nominees Unveiled
December 05, 2006 10:12:08The racing to be the best has already begun for animated features as International Animated Film Society ASIFA-Hollywood announced Monday, December 4 the nominees of its 34th annual Annie Awards set to take place at the Alex Theater in Glendale, California on February 11, 2007.
Leading the nominations were DreamWorks Animation's "Flushed Away" and Disney/Pixar's "Cars" which each earned nine nods; the former landed those for writing, storyboarding, and voice acting for Ian McKellen to name few while the latter scored in Best Animated Feature and Best Directing in an Animated Feature Production Categories among others.

Animated Flicks Racing for Slots at Oscar

"South Park" Creators to Handle Live-Action Features

Top 10 Box-Office Pictures for Weekend August 11-13

Taking up number three is Oliver Stone's "World Trade Center" which made its way to earn $19 million to make a respectable income of $26.8 million after opening Wednesday, August 9.

Weekend Box-Office List of Aug 4-6, 2006

Feeding off favorable review for delivering good laughs, his latest flick of "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby" satisfyingly scored an estimated opening weekend gross of $47 million to race to the top spot on box-office for sure. The amount turns out to be far beyond what its major challenger, "Barnyard", has collected as the animation feature merely managed to garner $16 million to secure the second place in the list.
Right behind this Paramount's wise-cracking animal 'toon, "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" still did well with $11 million followed by last-week's champion, "Miami Vice", which had to go down to the fourth position after only adding another $9.7 million during the weekend. Lionsgate's horror movie "The Descent" came next after gaining $8.8 million, lapping "John Tucker Must Die" whose sixth-place feedbag was filled with $6.05 million.

July 24, 2006 09:07:07The Disney sequel "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" remains on the top position in the box office this weekend, marking the flick's third straight weekend to be the number one movie, taking in $35 million in ticket sales with its total reaching for $321.7 million after just 17 days being released in the worldwide theaters.
This really is a great attainment compared to its predecessor, the 2003's "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl," which domestic total reached $305 million. Meanwhile, Sony's family film "Monster House", debuts at No. 2 with $23 million, just one place ahead of M. Night Shyamalan's "Lady in the Water," taking in $18.2 million.
