Denzel Washington's Thriller 'The Matarese Circle' Eyes Director David Cronenberg
October 08, 2008 02:10:36MGM's next political thriller project, "The Matarese Circle", is most likely to have found its director. Though nothing has been set in stone yet, David Cronenberg is currently in talks with the studio to take the part of the flick's helmer, as reported by Variety.
If the negotiations go on smoothly, the director of "Eastern Promises" will be tackling the behind the lens role using the script penned by "3:10 to Yuma" writing duo, Michael Brandt and Derek Haas. He will also work with Denzel Washington who is attached to star in the film.

April 05, 2008 11:04:17Following earlier reports claiming that renowned actor Denzel Washington has been attached to star in "The Matarese Circle", it is now reported that the screening rights of the film project have been obtained by MGM. According to Variety, the studio have beaten out stiff competitions from others, including Universal Pictures.
A report coming from Hollywood Reporter stated that the confirmation about the securing of the deal by the studio reportedly came on Friday, April 4. MGM have also been said to win the deal along with Relativity Media. Thus, the two will be financing the project equally. Allegedly, the studio have to hand out an estimated $3 million for the book deal only with an additional of $2 million for the film's screenwriters Michael Brandt and Derek Haas.

Denzel Washington Attached to 'Matarese Circle'
April 04, 2008 03:04:07The multiple awards-winning Hollywood actor Denzel Washington reportedly will be joining another action thriller project. According to Hollywood Reporter, the man behind the acclaimed drama movie "The Great Debaters" has been attached to star in "The Matarese Circle" a film adaptation of Robert Ludlum's novel.
Unlike in the Universal Pictures' action drama "American Gangster", the 53-year-old actor would be portraying the good guy in this film. Hollywood Reporter claimed that an insider revealed that the Academy Award recipient will bring Bradley Scofield, an American secret agent, to the big screen.
