There are tons for you to see from Tom Cruise-starrer "Lions for Lambs" this time, folks. MGM and United Artists as the studios behind the political drama have delightfully launched five new clips from the flick plus a new featurette presenting interviews with supporting cast members, Derek Luke, Michael Pena, and Andrew Garfield.

The time has finally come for political drama "Lions for Lambs" to be unveiled as it encountered its world premiere yesterday, Monday, October 22, 2007 as part of this year's London Film Festival, highlighted by the arrival of its star Tom Cruise on the red carpet.

The striking actor nicely spent over two hours prior to the screening to greet fans who had waited for him in the cold and wet weather, signing autographs and getting his pictures taken outside London's Odeon Leicester Square, where the premiere was held.

MGM is really being generous to moviegoers regarding its upcoming release of "Lions for Lambs." Not only the company has brought up several production photos from the flick but also is holding an open contest to win a chance of doing charity.

Posted via Cinematical.com, the stills delightfully capture images of principal cast members like Tom Cruise, Meryl Streep, Michael Pena, and Derek Luke as well as Robert Redford who also directs the political drama. Cruise portrays charismatic Presidential hopeful, Senator Jasper Irving while Streep acts as TV journalist Janine Roth. Pena and Luke, in the meantime, are two university students joining the battle in Afghanistan upon being inspired by their idealistic professor, Dr. Stephen Malley, played by Redford.

Lions for Lambs Set for Premiere at the 51st London Film Fest

Bringing the film abroad, Robert Redford will get his latest directorial effort "Lions for Lambs" premiered at this year’s London Film Festival, which is going to host 184 full-length films and 133 shorts from 43 countries.

Pic will have its first screening on October 22, 2007 at Odeon Leicester Square as part of Gala and Special Screenings program. Redford, who also takes starring part in the political drama, is expected to attend the event alongside co-stars Tom Cruise and Meryl Streep.

The first destination "Lions for Lambs" will head for in the States appears to be Los Angeles for sure as the political drama has delightfully been announced to become the opening-night gala feature at this year's AFI Fest, which first took shape in 1971 under the name of Filmex.

Marking its North American debut there, the flick will unspool at ArcLight's Cinerama Dome as the event opens on November 1, 2007. To add, the screening will coincide with the first day on the job for AFI's incoming prexy-CEO Bob Gazzale, who will be the third person after Jean Picker Firstenberg to lead the 40-year-old National Endowment for the Arts, the organization holding the festival.

Set to plant solid base in Hollywood, British newcomer Andrew Garfield has successfully acquired a starring slot in United Artists' high-profile drama "Lions for Lambs", joining household names like Robert Redford, Tom Cruise, and Meryl Streep.

Currently in production, the picture presents three interconnected plotlines concerning a congressman, an idealistic professor, and a pair of American soldiers wounded in enemy territory in Afghanistan. Enlarging his film resume, "Friday Night Lights" star Derek Luke has reached a deal to take starring part in MGM's "Lions for Lambs", Variety has reported.

Joining the likes of Tom Cruise, Meryl Streep, Robert Redford, and Michael Pena in the cast, Luke will portray one of two soldiers who are cut off from their platoon in unfriendly territory in Afghanistan. It is said that his character will be the catalyst of three interconnected storylines that build the picture.

Finally the megastar has made a decision. Variety revealed that Tom Cruise has ultimately reached a deal to star in "Lions for Lambs", a dramatic feature slated to be financed by United Artists which the actor has revived with his C/W partner Paula Wagner for MGM.

Joining A-list thespians Robert Redford and Meryl Streep, here Cruise will portray a congressman who interacts with a journalist, played by Streep, in one of three interconnected storylines that build the picture. Filming is scheduled to start early next year to meet a fall 2007 release with Redford to direct from script written by Matthew Carnahan.
