  one of the absolutely worst films based on a non-story scripted by scribblers and acted by an inept casts. William Hurt maintains the same perplexed expression on his face from beginning to end. Mme. Rossellini does little more and is made up to look about as unattractive as possible. If the average couple in their late fifties were all as desperately boring and dissatisfied with life we would need armies of psychiatrists and carloads of anti-depressants to pull us through. The whole thing just doesn't ring true. Even the actors are aware of that.
