'Juno' Uncounted for Genie Awards, Director Enraged
February 29, 2008 02:02:43Though has been nominated and won many prestigious awards, the drama comedy "Juno" was left out at the 28th Annual Genie Awards' nominations. The ineligible reportedly made the film's director Jason Reitman to be extremely upset towards the people behind the awards claimed to be the Canadian Oscar.
According to press release, the director was reportedly enraged with the reason given for the ruling out of his film. Reportedly, though the Ellen Page-starring film features Canadian theps, it wasn't considered for the nods because it wasn't financed by Canadian dollars. Agitated Reitman said, "How are we not eligible for a Genie when David Cronenberg's film about Russians living in London, shot in England with a British crew and British cast, is eligible? I'm sorry, but somebody is going to have to explain that to me; I don't get it."

'Juno' Sequel Script On-Sale On eBay
February 28, 2008 04:02:51Though "Juno" director Jason Reitman has ditched the sequel idea, the script of the drama comedy movie's sequel has allegedly been written as it was put on sale on eBay. Slash Film which reported the news first stated that though offered for the bargain price of $100,001.00, the script wasn't being written by the Academy Award-winning scribbler Diablo Cody.
On the auction site, eBay user by the name of 'screenwriter_in_paradise' claimed to be the writer of the script noting, "I have written the sequel." In promoting the sequel script, 'screenwriter_in_paradise' wrote, "Juno grossed over $130 million domestically...If Mr. Mudd, Mandate or FoxSearchlight don't buy than it is available to any legitimate production company that wants to jump on the bandwagon. Your lawyers will tell you the names will have to be changed, so we will call this 111 page script Juno-like or Junoesque. A 4-page sample is available via e-mail. The screenplay is copyrighted and registered with the WGA."

'Juno' Won Big at 2008 Spirit Awards

At the event, the Fox Searchlight Pictures' film has nailed the coveted Best Feature as well as Best First Screenplay for scribbler Diablo Cody.
The film's young star Ellen Page brought the third award for the Jason Reitman-directed film as she won Best Female Lead. In accepting the award, Page said, "This is so, so special." She then joked, "This is pretty much Diablo Cody's fault" Later, the 21-year-old actress talked about her success with the Oscar's Best Film-nominated movie to People. She said, "I'm just trying to go along with it, staying with a friend, having fun. Just trying to remove myself in a way, and remember it's about film ... These nominations are a huge honor. Director Jason Reitman Ditched 'Juno' Sequel Idea

According to Page Six, the gossip column of the New York Post, the director of the Oscar-nominated film has refused to work on the sequel because he doubts that the follow-up storyline would be as good as the original.
To Page Six over lunch at '21' on Sunday, February 10, the son of "Ghostbusters" producer Ivan Reitman said, "I can't see it." He then elaborated his refusal saying, "She got pregnant once; I just can't see her getting pregnant again."

Juno Honored at 2008 Palm Springs Film Festival
January 07, 2008 11:01:17Following the opening of the 19th annual Palm Springs Film Festival on January 4, the teen pregnancy drama "Juno" was honored with Chairman's Vanguard Award in the black tie awards gala for the festival held the following day (Jan 05) at the Palm Springs Convention Center, California. In the gala, the film's director Jason Reitman, writer Diablo Cody and its cast, including Ellen Page and Jason Bateman, was presented with the award by Drew Barrymore. It was given the honor since the PSIFF believes the movie is one of the most innovative films.
Earlier, Festival Chairman Earl Greenburg revealed the reason stating, "After screening Juno, I knew the Festival had to honor this film with the Vanguard Award. Jason Reitman's film is one of the most innovative from this year and we are very excited to recognize him along with the writer Diablo Cody and the cast members with this achievement." Jason Reitman Snatches "Juno" from Brad Silberling
July 27, 2006 10:07:30Looks like the baton has slipped off Brad Silberling's hands completely to be handed over to Jason Reitman. Variety has reported that Silberling has backed away from Mandate Pictures' "Juno" and so prompted the company to assign Reitman as his replacement in the project for sure.
Silberling, known for his 2004 work in "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events", has been said to take his departure because of creative differences over casting which so far has not yet been settled despite the aim to start filming production on early fall. As for Reitman, the picture will be his next effort after star-studded comedic feature of "Thank You for Smoking" which previously saw its release in March.

Juno Finds the Man
November 11, 2005 11:11:49Finally we find the man. It's Brad Silberling that is going to direct the film "Juno," a Diablo Cody-scripted coming-of-age comedy to be financed by Mandate Pictures. The man is still in talks to take the duty.
The film, which is about to start shooting next spring, tells the story of a teen who discovers she is pregnant, decides to have the baby and deals with all the inherent complexities that include growing close to the couple who will adopt the kid.
