Thomas Haden Church Hints on Involvement in 'John Carter of Mars'
June 15, 2009 04:06:17While the confirmation on the joining of Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins for "John Carter of Mars" is still fresh in mind, another casting report is coming out and it involves Thomas Haden Church. During a recent chat with Jeffrey Lyons on "Reel Talk" for "Imagine That", the Sandman of "Spider-Man 3" hinted on the potential chance he is going to be in the sci-fi fantasy.
Asked about his future movie project, Hayden Church gushed that he might star in the Andrew Stanton-directed movie. "I'm probably going to do a huge science fiction drama at Disney called John Carter Of Mars and that's a very dramatic role," so the 48-year-old claimed. It is still unclear what character he eyes to play, but it should be noted that the actor is yet to be officially cast.

ERBZine, the official Edgar Rice Burroughs tribute and weekly webzine site, has came up with delightful news claiming that Disney/Pixar, which appears to have secured the film rights to "John Carter of Mars", is intending to develop the movie as a trilogy.
The site reported that pre-production has got heated up on the flick, an adaptation of Burroughs's 11-volume Barsoom series. Pixar's honcho Jim Morris, director Andrew Stanton, and screenwriter Mark Andrews were said to have spent a morning exploring the massive Edgar Rice Burroughs archives in the ERB, Inc. offices on Ventura Blvd while also discussing the project with Burroughs representatives consisting of Danton Burroughs, Sandra Galfas, and Jim Sullos.

Disney to Revive "John Carter of Mars"
January 17, 2007 10:01:27Sensing potential opportunity in the stalled project of "John Carter of Mars", Walt Disney Pictures is reported by TMZ.com to hold negotiations with the estate of Edgar Rice Burroughs to secure the rights to the film, which is an adaptation of the author's book series of the same title.
The big-screen version of the sci-fi hero initially was intended to be developed under Paramount Pictures banner supported by Fox and Walden Media with Jon Favreau to direct. However, talks between the latter two studios and the estate sadly never reached a deal, leading the picture to be put into the shelf for years.

Finding himself a prisoner of these creatures, he escapes, only to encounter Dejah Thoris, Princess of Helium, who is in desperate need of a savior.
