Full Movie Winners List of 2008 Teen Choice Awards

Teenagers across the country have chosen their favorite celebrities in TV, film, music, sports and fashion and on Sunday, August 3, Hollywood celebrities gathered at the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal Studios for the special event honoring the teens' favorites, the 10th annual Teen Choice Awards. While "Gossip Girls" and Jonas Brothers dominate the TV and music category respectively, winners on the movie category apparently varied.

The 2008 choice movie winners came from the last year's critically acclaimed movies, such as "Juno" for choice comedy and "27 Dresses" for choice chick flick, to the recently released films, including "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" which is named Choice Movie Action Adventure and "Get Smart" Choice Summer Movie Comedy. Among all the victors, three in particular, "Juno", "What Happens in Vegas..." and "I Am Legend", brought home more than the others as they got double awards.

Sequel Rights of I Am Legend Sealed

Seeing that Will Smith's latest thriller "I Am Legend" has become a box office hit, Warner Bros is looking forward to follow the success of the film with a sequel. According to ShockTillYouDrop.com, an insider claimed that the author Richard Matheson has signed off on the sequel right if the studio want to do a sequel.

Still, it is also said that the sequel is still a possibility since there's nothing official yet. With Matheson signing the deal, it only gives the studio a 'go' in finding the right direction for the second chapter of the story. If the movie sequel is indeed made, it will be the first sequel of the adaptation movie since neither "The Last Man on Earth" (1964) nor "The Omega Man" (1971) was regarded as a sequel.

Wasn't expected to make an impressive income, "I Am Legend" proved otherwise as it scored big in the weekend box office ended Sunday, December 16. The action horror movie grossed about 77.2 million dollars in the three days following its premiere on Friday, December 14, making it the best December opening of all time beating the previous record holder, the 2003's "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King".

The success of Francis Lawrence's movie to nail the desired position also becomes the prove that its leading actor, Will Smith, is indeed one of the world's most bankable stars. Last year, Smith's "The Pursuit of Happyness" debuted on number 1 pulling in staggering income of 26.5 million dollars. Bringing bright spotlight to New York City's Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night (Dec. 11), a number of celebrities gathered together at the Wamu Theater to celebrate the premiere for Francis Lawrence-directed "I Am Legend", which Warner Bros. Pictures is slated to launch in theaters nationwide this Friday, December 14.

Big attention surely was directed toward male lead Will Smith as the hunk arrived alongside his actress wife Jada Pinkett Smith plus children Jaden and Willow, who made her big screen debut in the movie. On the red carpet, the actor surprisingly took time to talk a bit about the film not yet being approved in China, jokingly saying to USA Today "it's too big a part of the world to not have a Will Smith movie."

I Am Legend's China Release Date Delayed

Words are spreading that the release date of "I Am Legend" in China is yet to be settled. Associated Press reported that Will Smith, the star of the sci-fi thriller, has met with Han Sanping, the chairman of China Film Group in order to fix the movie's release date.

According to reports, the prolonging happens because in their effort to improve their domestic film industry, China has imposed a three-month temporary ban on American movies. However, on Thursday, December 6, an executive from China Film Group denied the banning rumor stating that they are still reviewing Hollywood movies.

Lots of goodies from Will Smith-starrer "I Am Legend" can be checked out now as Warner Bros. Pictures has delightfully launched the official website for the post-apocalyptic movie, set to hit theaters December 14, 2007.

The most interesting feature in it could probably be the daylight meter which you can examine by submitting various U.S. postal codes. Others include photo gallery, teaser trailer, synopsis, and a news feed. In addition, there are also cool wallpapers and buddy icons as well as a screen-saver and poster that you can download for free.

I Am Legend Scribe Ready for a Sequel

It’s not until December 14 that moviegoers finally can see "I Am Legend" come to the surface yet a sequel has already been prepared to be developed at Warner Bros. Pictures by screenwriter Mark Protosevich for sure.

According to Los Angeles Times, the man has pitched the company on a follow-up to the action horror thriller although no deal has yet been finalized. Protosevich, a native of Chicago, Illinois, previously got hired for four different times to work on the script, which was at one time optioned by 20th Century Fox with talk of Ridley Scott and Arnold Schwarzenegger as director and star, respectively.

Sure it's a common thing to hear a film feature made with a handful of $5 million, but to learn about a scene costing the same number undeniably is an uncommon one to accept, and that probably can only be found in Warner Bros. Pictures' action horror flick "I Am Legend."

Reports said that filmmakers of the movie have spent a minimum cost of the amount to shoot one scene depicting a massive evacuation from the spreading vampire-zombie plague on New York City's Brooklyn Bridge. Dubbed "the most expensive scene ever shot in New York", the sequence was filmed over the course of six nights in January, involving no less than a crew of 250, the assistance of 14 government agencies, and a cast of 1,000 extras, including 160 members of the National Guard.

Concerning the tidbit reporting "Finding Neverland" star Johnny Depp being attached to "I Am Legend" last July, it turns out that the actor's inclusion is apparently not true for IESB.net has revealed that Depp actually never signed on to the project.

With this confirmation, there thus will be no collaboration between Depp and Will Smith, who has officially been billed to play the lead role in the feature. As for the movie, it has also been reported that its story will be closer to a 1971 adaptation titled "The Omega Man" rather than the original 1954 novel written by Richard Matheson.

As crew and cast of "I Am Legend" have been assembled neatly, Warner Bros. Pictures now really can bring the project to the next step. The company has revealed to Production Weekly that filming on the movie will make its start on September 23 this year to run for more than six months up to March 31, 2007 in New York with an aim to release it on November 21, 2007.

Shelved for quite a long time before being dusted off by Warner with Francis Lawrence at helm, pic features Will Smith in the lead role and "Cinderella Man" writer Akiva Goldsman on script. Goldsman himself is also producing alongside David Heyman, Neal Moritz, and Erwin Stoff.

Depp Attached to "I Am Legend"

So it now makes two to make "I Am Legend" as Johnny Depp has given positive sign to star alongside Will Smith in bringing up the project to the big screen, BlackFilm.com has reported. The talented actor probably will be given the role of Ben Cortman, the neighbor of the film's protagonist, Robert Neville played by Smith.

Directed by "Constantine" helmer Francis Lawrence, the picture is based on Richard Matheson's book which describes Neville as the last living man on Earth surrounded by throng of vampires who are all hungry for his blood. The story follows Neville as he stalks the sleeping undead in the daylight while trying to save himself from being the vampires' victim at night.

Variety reported that Hollywood actor Will Smith has reached a deal to star in the new adaptation of "I Am Legend" which is about to be directed by Francis Lawrence.

The adaptation of the Richard Matheson novel, "I Am Legend" is set in post-apocalyptic New York. The story tells about the last healthy man following the release of a virus that decimates the population. To survive, he must battle mutants that wreak havoc during the night.

Francis Lawrence isn't a legend. Well, at least he could later on be one as he has signed on to direct the long-time-shelved "I Am Legend," which is based on Richard Matheson's classic horror / sci-fi novel of the same title. The story actually had been filmed twice before, but neither one could gain success.

Now, as Lawrence is going to direct, let's hope it will result better as he has planned to rewrite the script over the next few months, with filming due to start sometime next year. "I Am Legend" follows Robert Nevill, the last living man on Earth who struggles to survive in a world full of vampires.
