'Fast and Furious' Director and Producer for 'Highlander' Remake

"Highlander", a reboot to to Russell Mulcahy's 1986 film, will see a collaboration of the "Fast and Furious" director-producer duo once again. On Tuesday, September 22, Summit Entertainment announced that it has signed in helmer Justin Lin and producer Neal Moritz to work on the remake project.

"We are privileged to have this amazing opportunity to reinvent one of the great franchises," the studio's co-chairman Patrick Wachsberger said when revealing the joining of the two filmmakers to the project. "Neal and Justin have proven more than once that they can deliver an entertaining and exciting blockbuster."

'Iron Man' Scribblers Signed for 'Highlander' Remake

The 1986's thriller fantasy film "Highlander" will be brought back into the silver screen. Latest reports on the matter stated that Summit Entertainment have obtained the screening rights to the film made famous by actor Christopher Lambert and to add on the excitement, the remake film has signed "Iron Man" screenwriters Art Marcum and Matt Holloway.

The two scribblers will be working on developing the new material about the two conflicting Scottish clans and is expected to finish writing the script before the movie swing into production in 2009. It is said that though it is basically a redo, the story will bring more background story to the film as well as the romance plot.

Well I hope this movie learns lessons from J.J when he rebooted Star Trek recently. Highlander movies went from great to bad, to great to okay & horrible & good fun with a great tv series. Bring back Methos to the small screen!!
