This is a true story from Japan. It's funny how they changed up so much of the main characters to the point where they are not even Japanese, along with the setting where it should in Japan. Of course this is a great movie, but I think they should consider that this story did not take place in America.
This movie not just simply made me cry, it made me realize how importance love and loyalty is. It's my favorite story now. I can't move on. It was s inspiring and admiring knowing that it really happened in real life. I wish I could also have my Hachi. :) Ilovehim. I love you Hachi!
dwayne bonello i love this movie too much and i love the sory he has in this movie and richard gere is my favorate actor and i hate pretty mowen of richard gere and julia roberts but this movie i love it and i gonna give 5stars!
I watched the trailer and i couldn't wait to see the movie. I love hatchi since i read the movie story in a magazine.. This is a one of a kind movie. It makes me sad and happy.. ):
this is the kind of movie that everyone should watch.i was amaze by the dog's ability to act. we all know how hard it was to train a dog.. so brava to the dog's trainer!
i like it... i love it...i adore it....so much... there are a bit different story between the japanesse version and the US version... but the story is still the best...
Dwayne bonello i really this movie it's wonderful story adut hachiko i love the actor richard gere and this movie so awsome and at the end i just cried!
I just lost my pet after 18 yrs. I watched this movie and it just brought back so many memories. I will watch it over and over. But, does anyone know what the Japanese man said to Hachiko at the train station?
the most wonderfull true story i ever see i cried all the time. when i woke up in the morning i cried i had amicrania. love you hachicko you where a great dog xxxxx :-(
The bond with a true dog is as lasting as the ties of this earth will ever be.
A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than you love yourself.
I think dogs are the most amazing creatures; they give unconditional love. For me they are the role model for being alive
He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
I have been a professional police dog handler for 25 years, and this movie brought me to my knees. I have seen many working dogs lost over the years, but this theme hit me hard right where I live. I recently had to retire my four-legged partner of 10 years and begin working a younger dog. My retiree sits everyday in the same spot in my front yard waiting for me to return. You just can't imagine the feeling when I round the corner and we see each other - you just can't make this stuff up - the miracle of a bond. If only everyone could experience this I think it would be a much better world. Long Live Hachi !!!!
After watching this movie, I wasn't sad... I was in mourning. I wanted to help Hachi. What an unbelieveable place I was in, unable to comfort or help Hachi.......
i love this movie so much..as well as hatchi,,given a chance i will watch this over and over again...so touching...it broke my heart!!!i love you hachiko!
The scene near the end, with Joan Allen hugging the old Hachi, with such care, made me cry.
A very nice, well done movie. B++. I watched it 3 times in one day, and I had tears off n on. I just lost my dog, so it hit a cord with me; we bonded.
I can only hope, the USA could really care about its people, the way this dog did for its master.
If you are a dog lover, this is another movie to see, just keep the tissues near by.
This was without a doubt the most beautiful, inspiring and heartwarming movie I have ever watched..There are not enough words to describe what a profound effect this story about hachi has had on me. I have never cried while watching a movie but with hachi I couldnt stop crying. I have already told all my other animal loving friends to watch this movie that I know one will never forget. It has inspired me to want to be a better human being. I highly recommend the story of hachi to everyone.
one of the best movie I ever saw.The story stayed w/me everyday...it made me cry like a child.I feel heartbroken. simple but full of lesson. If given a chance I would watch this movie over and over again.
it's one of the best movie i have ever seen.....it's really hard to believe that this a true story ...but i do believe....cos it made me cry....made my heart sink....i wish i had hachiko..with me
I have been watching the Japanese version on Ytube. Sad that it wasn't released in the US, but the American remake is faithful to the story. The interaction between the humans and the dogs were wonderful. My husband and I own Shiba Inus which were used in the film to play the puppy parts. I have purchased three copies of the DVD and have them all loaned at present. I love this film, but would like to see an English version of the Japanese version released. The ending in the Japanese version is beautiful. Even children can enjoy this film, they just need to have all of the nuances of love, loyalty, etc. explained to them. Everyone I have loaned the movie to has enjoyed it as much as I have. I will probably buy a few more copies to share with friends.
Never cried so much on a film before. My husband now wants another dog!!!! Fantastic film but don't think I could watch again as far too heart wrenching.
It wasnt really the actors who brought this movie to life. it was hachi. I once read from Reader's digest a story similar to this. The point is, we people could learn a lesson here from the dogs: no matter what, our dogs will rermain loyal, true and loving to us. I got 4 jap spitz, and they are so affectionate. I keep wondering: who's human and who is a lower form animal? I therefore leave this question to everyone: hy cant we love each other like dogs? I appreciate my "babies" more after seeing this film. I love yah girls!
As a student filmmaker and one who used to own an akita (mine passed away last year due to old age) I just HAD to buy this film when i found it at the mall in a DVD/music store. this film is excellent! I have shown this DVD to my family and friends and every time I see the shot of Joan Allen hugging the old Hachi, that scene just about kills me! (I tell myself I won't cry every time I see that scene but I do) so sad but sweet - and that is what good filmmaking is all about--hitting an emotional cord with the audience :) this film stayed with me long after I saw it and even though it made me miss my little akita very painfully, it also made me laugh watching it, as the mannerisms Hachi showed were exactly like my dog was like (doesn't like or will fetch balls!) a wonderful wonderful film!!!
Cant believe it's a true story..
Hachiko, you touch everyone's heart..
The adaptation could make a river of tears, cant imagine the real story when it was in 1925s
:((
we should learn from Hachiko.
I would reccommend this movie to EVERYONE!!! It's a really sad story!!! you can really see the owner and the dog, bonding!!! I was crying throughout the WHOLE movie!!! I totally reccomend it!!!!
this was one of the most amazing movies ever! i just watched it! the idea and story is just unbelievable how a dog would be so loyal! i almost cried! this i think is one of the most touching movies! yet it was heartwarming and heartbreaking!
HACHI IS SO CUTE I JUST CRIED I DREAMD ABOUT HACHI. I WISH I HAD A DOG LIKE THAT.BUT MY COUSIN HAS A BLACK AND WITHE ONE. BUT I LIKE YOUR DOG MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH MUUUUCCCHHHHH MOOOOORRRREE BETTER
The movie was very good in my opinion, very touching.
However, I think the original one was a lot better. I don't really like the idea of changing the setting so much... The real story happened in 1925 at the Shibuya Station in Japan, so why make a movie about it if you're going to have it happen in 1998 in the US? What's the point? Maybe there was a reason for this, but I would've liked it better if they'd sticked to the actual story more.
The movie was great, but I would recommend seeing the 1987 original movie (Hachiko Monogatari) instead of this 2009 adaptation.
Simple a gorgeous movie, brought tears to my eyes, out of sadness and admiration for this dog, cannot put these emotions into words. If you havent seen it, well, you should, because it is 100% worth seeing. brought me to tears, thanks for making such an emotional wonderful movie Richard Gare.
Loved this movie!!! I can't
believe such a good, wholesome
film isn't shown on the big screen. We need more of this
sort of movie instead of all of the violent ones out there! Thanks to all who made this movie!
C&C
Wonderfully photographed and acted story. Richard Gere brought an incredible warmth and believability to the story and "Hachi" was incredible. If this film doesn't get to you, you don't like dogs and you don't understand the bond that they create with their owners. If only we could become so indelibly bonded, loved and loyal to each while overlooking each other's faults, the world would be a pretty good place.
Watched this movie today and i cried like a baby, then tried to tell my friends in work about it and got all choked up in tears again. I love dogs and this story completely blew me away, ive never heard of such a love as this in all my life. Brilliant story and very heart wrenching!! I still can't talk about this dog without getting choked up honestly. so, so sad but brilliant. God bless you Hachiko. xxx
I can't believe it. Was it in the movies? I missed it??
I have been watching for it for almost two years. I was an extra in it a couple of summers ago. It never came here, I heard it was coming out on DVD. I couldn't believe it didn't make it to the big screen. Please let me know.
Thanks.
i watched it awhile ago and it made me cry...cant help it...especialy in the last two scenes of hachi, when mrs. wilson saw hachi still waiting at the train station and the last scene where he was walking slowly going to his place at the train station and slowly falling to "sleep".....
I have 2 Akitas and the whole reason i got them 7 yrs ago is b/c i found this story in my one of my research books. The sad part of all this is not that the owner dies, its that the akita was only 6 months old and went everyday for 12 years to wait for him. they are as loyal as they say
I've just seen the trailer and already, I cried like a baby! I am looking forward to purchasing the DVD. I love dogs and just lost my loving and loyal lab so this story hits me hard. This movie sums up how big of role they play in hearts no matter how short of time they're around.
me & my partner cant wait 2 c this film, long awaited by us & many others. the trailer alone brought a tear 2 our eye & also brought back fond memories of my partners akita..hatchi..(named after the legend) who has sadly passed on now!! amazing story!! us humans can learn many a lesson from this brave, intelligent, loyal akita!! long live the memory, heart & soul of Hachiko!!!!xxxxxxxxxxxx
It was so touching, I couldn't stop crying from the Moment of Parkers death. It was one of the best movies I ever seen. The story of Hachiko has to be told, because it's the most pure love story there can be - the love between a dog and his master...

Dec 04, 2009It was so touching, I couldn't stop crying from the Moment of Parkers death. It was one of the best movies I ever seen. The story of Hachiko has to be told, because it's the most pure love story there can be - the love between a dog and his master...
