"Grindhouse" Split Plan Aborted
April 18, 2007 03:04:07"Grindhouse" fans around the States really should cheer up by this time as it turns out that the double-feature flick will be kept as whole, according to JoBlo.
The site apparently has learned from an insider of The Weinstein Company that all plans to get the picture split for a summer re-release have been thrown away and so, it will continue to run as one film in U.S. theaters. The studio, however, did try to screen the two segments of movie, "Planet Terror" and "Death Proof", separately in some cinemas while keeping them together in other places with an intermission instead of the fake trailers.

April 13, 2007 10:04:13While reports are still circulating on the intention of Harvey Weinstein of The Weinstein Co. to split two segments of "Grindhouse" as separate movies, another unpleasant news has struck the flick as an indie filmmaker recently alleged that director Quentin Tarantino has ripped off his idea to make the picture.
The filmmaker, whose name is Stephen Tramontana, has posted a statement on a site called therealgrindhouse.com accusing Tarantino to have stolen his title and concept of a movie he made back in 2002, though he did state that both "Death Proof "and "Grindhouse" had "no shared story threads or scenes."

"Grindhouse" May Get Split in Two, Too in U.S.
April 10, 2007 03:04:06Dissatisfied with the result of "Grindhouse" of only grossing $11.5 million in its opening week in the States, The Weinstein Co.'s exec Harvey Weinstein is now considering to give the same treatment the company intends to do for non-speaking English markets: splitting the flick in two.
Confessing that he is "incredibly disappointed" with the numbers, the man revealed the plan to Deadline Hollywood, unveiling his intention to re-release the film's two segments Quentin Tarantino 's "Death Proof" and Robert Rodriguez's "Planet Terror" as separate movies later this summer.
