'G.I. Joe' Sequel Going Into Production Soon
August 11, 2009 11:08:52"G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra" has done better than what Paramount Pictures expected it to be, and thus more firm words stating a sequel project to the live-action adaptation is being developed have been uttered. According to Los Angeles Times, the studio's vice chairman, Rob Moore, has confirmed that the sequel "will soon go into development".
All of the "G.I. Joe" lead actors are contractually obligated to return for another installment. Some of whom, which included Channing Tatum, Marlon Wayans, Sienna Miller and Rachel Nichols, had admitted they are locked for the follow-up movie during an Australian Press Conference for the film. However, director Stephen Sommers is not.

Though met with not-so-kind-criticism earlier this summer, the Stephen Sommers-directed action adventure has proven to be a box office hero as it landed atop the chart after its first three days screening, selling $54.7 million worth of ticket sales.
With the solid opening, the movie starring Channing Tatum, Sienna Miller and Dennis Quaid is placed among the best August openings in history for a non-sequel. Its impressive bow also marked Tatum and Miller's career bests. Of the success of the film, Paramount vice chairman Rob Moore said, "... the audience got exactly what it was. A fun summer movie, a great way to end your summer. You just relax and have a good time."

July 28, 2009 10:07:01Two weeks shy of its theatrical release, "G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra" has got a brand new clip, two TV spots and a featurette released for viewing pleasure. The clip comes out courtesy of RTE Entertainment, while one of the TV spots is outed via StephenSommers.com and the featurette gets out via MSN.
The clip sees the scene where Dennis Quaid's General Hawk welcomes Channing Tatum's Duke and Marlon Wayans' Ripcord. It also features the footage in which Ripcord is trying to make his move on Rachel Nichols' Scarlett. Both of the made-for-television promos, on the other hand, focus more on the action the movie is offering.

Uncovered by Latino Review, each of the two brand new one-sheets gives away another take on the two masked ninjas in the film, Ray Park's Snake Eyes of the G.I. These character posters came out a day after a series of new "G.I. Joe" stills was uncovered. Some of the photos exhibit the G.I. Though containing many similar footage to previous trailers, this fresh promotional video does tuck in a brief glimpse at Joseph Gordon-Levitt's Cobra Commander in a single shot when he is seen standing next to Christopher Eccleston's Destro.
Previously, Gordon-Levitt has talked about portraying the character. To New York Magazine, he gushed, "My face is in it. There's this crazy kind of getup that I wear. It's got makeup and it's got all this other stuff, and it's a mask, basically. You can hardly tell it's me. And that, to me, is the best. That's why I love Daniel Day-Lewis or Gary Oldman."

Rumor of Stephen Sommers Fired From 'G.I. Joe', a False One
June 12, 2009 10:06:36Words that director Stephen Sommers being shunt out from "G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra" apparently hold no truth in them. In an interview with Latino Review, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura has set things straight, saying "It's very unfair to Steve, it's completely untrue he was never asked to leave or been fired or any of that. That's ridiculous. The movie tested very well."
When the site mentioned that the screening test result is as good as "Transformers", the producer declined to compare "G.I. Joe" with other movies. He said, "Well listen, we tested very well and I don't compare the movies because they are different movies, but you know I think its really destructive for a director."

This fresh clip is entitled "Paris Attack" and serves as the extended version of the 45-second footage which reveals who is behind the destruction of the Eiffel Tower.
The clip starts showing the footage seen in the 45-second video, that is Sienna Miller's Baroness entering a building in Paris with Byung-hun Lee's Storm Shadow accompanying her. Joe: Rise of Cobra" when it was screened by Paramount Pictures in Sydney. Sharing what he has seen during the screening, he jotted down the footage details and revealed that the footage was an extended version of what has been outed through the Super Bowl spot.

Claiming to have seen the sneak peek of the action movie in a test screening, Jason Nicholl of Nukethefridge.com described what he has seen in what could be the film's promotional effort.
Starting the description, Nicholl wrote that the teaser "begins with some jets zooming by and dropping some bombs". He continued noting that what comes next is a scene where Dennis Quaid's Hawk talks to members of a new elite fighting force that is formed to fight terrorism followed by a couple of terrorist attacks.

Bringing forward what is claimed to be the first look of Storm Shadow's uncle, Latino Review posted a picture of Gerald Okamura in his Hard Master costume. The photo is said to be taken outside the actor's trailer when the movie was taking its principal photography in the Downey area.
Okamura's character, Hard Master, is known as the ninja master of the Arashikage clan. He is the one who trains both Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes, and is believed to have something to do with the rivalry between the two. In the comic book, his death leads to Snake Eyes leaving the clan, while Storm Shadow joining Cobra.

Cobra Commander Seen as Twisted Character in 'G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra'

Though no official announcement has been made by the production house of the new title of the movie, a teaser poster for the tidbit has popped up at the Cinema EXPO in Amsterdam, Netherlands and in it, it is revealed the full title of the upcoming action movie. 'G.I. Joe' Filming Hampered by Accident
April 28, 2008 10:04:30Few days after media brought up the news of the terrible car crash on the set of the much awaited "Quantum of Solace", they come again with another accident reports related to other movie's production. On Saturday, April 26, it is reported that a collision between a bus and several cars occurred during the filming of Paramount Pictures' "G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra" in the center of Prague.
Reportedly, the car crash incident happened near the action film's shooting area. It isn't clear though whether the "G.I. Joe" crew were involved in the accident or not as reports on the matter only related the mishap to the Stephen Sommers-directed film. Prague police spokeswoman Eva Brozova explained, "It happened in a closed area that was rented out to the filmmakers for the weekend." Further, it is noted that seven people were slightly injured on the accident as David Minowski, a spokesperson of local production house Stilling Films, claimed.

The Rock and Brendan Fraser Tapped in 'G.I. Joe'?

January 29, 2008 10:01:16The villain High Priest Imhotep in "The Mummy" series has reportedly joined the cast of action movie "G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra". According to IESB.net, Arnold Vosloo has been cast by director Stephen Sommers to depict the main bad guy Zartan in the film based on Hasbro's action figures.
Zartan is a mercenary who works with Destro and Cobra. This character, which is fluent in twenty languages and dialects, is described to be similar to a chameleon since he can imitate anyone to an exact physical and vocal likeness. He is an expert martial artist, master archer and the leader of the biker gang known as the Dreadnoks who also suffers from Paranoid Schizophrenia and Multiple Personality Disorder.

Based on Hasbro's line of action figures, "Joe" is a live action film starring Sienna Miller, Ray Park, Marlon Wayans, Rachel Nichols, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Said Taghmaoui. It tells the story of an international co-ed force of operatives who use hi-tech equipment to battle an evil organization headed by a double-crossing Scottish arms dealer 'Cobra'. The film is set to start shooting in February 2008 and slated for release on August 7, 2009.

Latino Review reported that "Fantastic Four" hunk Chris Evans, "Step Up" star Channing Tatum and "Lost" leading man Matthew Fox are in the running for the lead role.
Earlier, it was reported that Sam Worthington is an alleged contender for the role of the All-American bad ass, but it seems that the Australian actor was no longer included in the race because of his involvement in "Avatar". Prior to the news, it was also said that Dominic West, the star of television series "The Wire" will play Destro, one of the bad guys from Cobra, but the rumor was quick to be dismissed by Paramount Pictures.

January 07, 2008 01:01:39One of the Hollywood's comic brothers, the Wayans, is set to star in the war-themed film, "G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra". According to Variety, Marlon Wayans has signed a deal with Paramount Pictures to play Ripcord, a leader of the military unit.
In the film based on Hasbro's American soldier action figure, Wayans will play alongside Rachel Nichols, Sienna Miller, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje and Said Taghmaoui. In the meantime, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is said to be in negotiations to join the action movie.

The Hollywood Reporter has brought up casting info stating Rachel Nichols, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, and Said Taghmaoui have all joined the movie's lineup alongside previously-announced Sienna Miller and Ray Park.
Nichols, fresh from her role in "P2", is reported to play a skilled martial artist named Scarlett who specializes in hand-to-hand combat and counterintelligence. Akinnuoye-Agbaje, known as Mr. Eko in ABC's hit series "Lost", will portray ordnance expert Heavy Duty with Taghmaoui billed as Breaker, the team's communications specialist.
