'Forbidden Kingdom' Claims Box Office Glory

Pairing up the two great martial art-specialists, and , apparently is a great decision to be made as the action film "", which sees the two theps as the stars, debuted strongly at the North American box office. After the three days weekend screening until Sunday, April 20, the box office revenue tracker, Box Office Mojo, estimated that the Lions Gate Films' movie has proved to be the best by raking in approximately $20.9 million.

Previewed in 3,151 theaters across the U.S., the film directed by Rob Minkoff managed to bring in more than expected and is listed among the biggest opening martial art films. In fact, it is the highest selling kung fu film since the release of Quentin Tarantino's 2004 " Vol. 2" which garnered $25.1 million. The film also marked Chan's best opening film for a non-"Rush Hour" tidbit as well as Li's finest debuting movie since the 1998's "Lethal Weapon 4".

Jet Li and Jackie Chan Re-Teaming for Another Movie?

Though their latest action film "" has yet to open in the theaters, it has been rumored that the two top Asian action stars, and are planning to collaborate their acts once again for another movie. According to The Associated Press, following their first teaming up in "Kingdom", both Li and Chan revealed their desire to work together again at a Hong Kong news conference on Tuesday, March 18 to promote the Lions Gate Films' movie.

Hinting on the possibility of them reteaming in another film, Chan, who gathered recognition from Hollywood though 1995's "Rumble in the Bronx" as well as "Rush Hour" series, revealed that he and Li had so much fun filming for the Rob Minkoff-directed film that they didn't want the fun to be ended there. "The first day we started filming, it felt like we had worked together for many years," he said, "after filming this movie, we didn't have enough fun." Though refusing to give out further details about their second collaboration, AP reported that the kungfu movies' stars have planned to make another movie together based on a script which they have started working on 15 years ago.

Starts off with a rather comical shot on Michael Angarano as Jason Williams, the trailer takes exciting turn on its final third, boasting arguably great martial arts sequences, particularly from Li in his role of enigmatic and skillful monk Lan Cai He.

Getting such a potential big screen project within its grasp, Lionsgate has come onboard as domestic distributor of action epic "", known previously as "Jackie Chan/Jet Li Project" or "Untitled J&J Project", Variety has learned.

The company thus will co-release the flick in the U.S. with The Weinstein Co. for a planned September 2008 release as well as distribute it in the U.K. while the other studio handles the distribution for Spain, France, and Latin America regions.

Following 's confirmation that he is positive to star alongside fellow Asian actor in "Jackie Chan/Jet Li Project", also known as "J&J Project", Variety has given some details about the movie, one of two new features that Relativity Media is offering to buyers at the American Film Market starting today, November 1.

The action-adventure flick will be directed by "" helmer Rob Minkoff from John Fusco's script written based on the legend of the monkey king and his quest to achieve immortality. Li will take two roles as the monkey king and the silent monk while Chan is billed to play a monk named T'sa-Ho.
