John Krasinski to Be "Fletch"?
June 26, 2007 04:06:51The rumor mill keeps grinding on who will come up as the acting lead in "Fletch Won" despite previous talks saying "Dawson's Creek" star Joshua Jackson is up for the role, and the other name mentioned turns out to be John Krasinski, widely known for his role of Jim Halpert on NBC's sitcom "The Office."
Sure words on this matter do not come out without reason as Krasinski himself recently showed a positive response to MTV on his possibility to fill in the part.

Words coming from IESB.net state that the Canadian actor is in line to play the titular character in the long-gestating project with Steve Pink reportedly being plotted to direct in replacement for Bill Lawrence, who also penned the film's script.

April 24, 2007 04:04:31Seems the mystery has begun to unravel on Zach Braff's status in "Fletch Won." TV Guide has brought in sad news that the "Scrubs" star has come up to a conclusion of not joining the project as the titular character, which he had been tipped for since last year.
Based on Gregory Mcdonald's 1985 novel of the same title, the movie is likely to be the third motion picture to feature the character of the wisecracking reporter after "Fletch" (1985) and "Fletch Lives" (1989). "Scrubs" creator Bill Lawrence has already been appointed to helm from his own script with David List producing for The Weinstein Co..

Irwin Fletcher Character Getting Revived in Weinstein's "Fletch Won"
July 27, 2006 03:07:04It has been more than the decade since Chevy Chase's Irwin Fletcher entertained the moviegoers to become everyone's favorite wisecracking, crime-solving investigative journalist so it's no wonder if Weinstein Company feels that it's time for it to bring the character back on screen after all. Yes, the company has announced Wednesday, July 26 that it will make a prequel to the 1985 flick, titled "Fletch Won", with Bill Lawrence to take both jobs as writer and director.
Replacing Kevin Smith who was dropped from the project following the clash of vision between him and producer David List, Lawrence has revealed his intention to stick close to the source material for the movie which is based on Gregory Mcdonald's novel of the same name. In the meantime, this "Scrubs" mastermind seems to be more concerned with casting matters as the man tries to lobby Zach Braff to join the line-up playing the titular role. "Zach is perfect for the role," so he told The Hollywood Reporter. "I'm going to use all my pull trying to make him do it."
