September 04, 2008 10:09:12On Wednesday, September 3, "The Duchess" has rolled down its red carpet in front of Odeon Theatre in Leicester Square, London to celebrate its world premiere. The special occasion was made merry with the attendance of the stars, Keira Knightley, Ralph Fiennes and Dominic Cooper, as well as director Saul Dibb and "Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire" author Amanda Foreman.
Still, all of the attention of the evening was on the leading lady Knightley who was dressed in a strapless blue gown with lace accents on the neckline and hemline. Walking down the red carpet, she made time to casually chat and sign autographs for her fans waiting for her at the event. On her role in this film, she commented, "It's very interesting to me to play these types of roles and work with other women. There's always lots of men on the film set so it's good to have the opportunity to work with great actresses."

A Dramatic International Trailer of Keira Knightley's 'Duchess'
June 11, 2008 09:06:01Back in late 2007, movie lovers are given the chance to get a look inside the upcoming drama movie "The Duchess" through the release of its arguably short trailer. Fast forwarded to June 2008 nearly six months after the exposing of that trailer, another video footage promoting the Paramount Vantage's film starring Keira Knightley comes out and it is the international version of the trailer.
If the domestic trailer serves as the introduction to the scandalous Duchess of Devonshire herself, the international trailer provides comparison between Georgiana Cavendish and her famed descendant, the England lovable princess Lady Diana. In the opening sequences of the trailer, when a man gives an eulogistic introduction of the English aristocrat, the clips show the fading portrait of the former Princess of Wales for several times and suggest that years later Georgiana's legacy is followed by the people princess.

October 15, 2007 11:10:25New photos from the set of "The Duchess" in Greenwich, London have surfaced online and once again captured images of lead star Keira Knightley in her period outfit for her role as the titular character.
This time, the English beauty sported a massive coiffure as she filmed her scenes of riding in an ornate carriage, complete with footman. Just Jared.com reported shooting on that day was carried out at Greenwich's London Maritime Museum which got transformed into an 18th century-looking street. A reader to the site, however, informed that the location used was the town's Old Royal Naval College instead, now becoming part of University of Greenwich.

September 26, 2007 01:09:19It's good to have Keira Knightley back in a period piece and she seems to fit nicely into this kind of feature as pictured in two images on the left.
The English beauty was undergoing scenes for her new film "The Duchess", which Saul Dibb is directing for BBC Films and Pathe. She is playing the titular role, Georgiana Cavendish, Duchess of Devonshire, who was a celebrated beauty and an active political campaigner in an age when women's suffrage was still over a century away.

Keira Knightley Is The Duchess
July 30, 2007 04:07:58Really establishing her name in period drama pieces, Keira Knightley is reportedly poised to topline "The Duchess", an adaptation of Amanda Foreman's bestselling biography of Georgiana, duchess of Devonshire, which Pathe and BBC Films are co-financing.
Here the beauty will play the titular character, described as the Princess Diana of the time, who lived in an extravagant, profligate and promiscuous life of political and romantic intrigue. Becoming an important power-broker amidst Britain's ruling elite but also running up catastrophic gambling debts, the 18th century aristocrat was alternately feted and reviled, in the meantime being widely caricatured by the popular press.
