Therefore lines up with Rachel Weisz in the cast, the "Miami Vice" star will portray a mysterious drifter who is able to revive the passion for life of a woman during her struggle with isolation and loneliness in a remote community of the Northern Territories.

Heath Ledger Won't Play "Dirt Music"
November 23, 2006 02:11:33Forced to make choice between starring in "The Dark Knight" and "Dirt Music", Heath Ledger ultimately made a decision to walk out the latter project, director Phillip Noyce has confirmed to Moviehole.
With Ledger's departure, the film therefore only has Rachel Weisz in the supposedly high profile cast lineup. So far, there is no word yet on who may fill in the seat left by the Australian actor.
