More Hollywood Titles Added to the 2007 TIFF Lineup
August 23, 2007 03:08:33Compiling the most Hollywood-friendly lineup in years, organizers of this year's Toronto International Film Festival have smoothly added handfuls of high-profile U.S. titles into the list in its announcement for the full slate of the event Wednesday, August 22, 2007.
Among them, five are submitted into Gala Programme section, which will open with Jeremy Podeswa's drama "Fugitive Pieces." All set to be presented at Toronto's Roy Thomson Hall, they include ensemble drama "The Jane Austen Book Club", thriller mystery "The Walker", Harold Pinter-scripted "Sleuth", cop-turned-street-cleaner thriller "Cleaner", and romantic drama "Closing the Ring."

Weinstein to Perform "Death Defying Acts"
November 08, 2006 02:11:16Another magician saga is on the way to embrace U.S big screen. The Weinstein Co. is reported to have obtained all U.S distribution rights to "Death Defying Acts", a fictionalized biopic of famed magician Harry Houdini directed by Australian filmmaker Gillian Armstrong.
Source close to the movie revealed that the company is conjuring up some $5.5 million for the picture, which was originally made for less than $20 million. It is also said that co-head Harvey Weinstein will release the film by fall next year, several months after its planned unveiling at Cannes Film Festival next May.
