Romantic drama "Dear John" has just got its trailer released. Put out via Moviefone, this sneak peek offers first look at the two leading actors, Channing Tatum as he portrays young soldier-on-leave John Tyree, and Amanda Seyfried as she takes on idealistic college student Savannah Lynn Curtis.

On leave from the Army, John goes home and meets gorgeous but conservative college student Savannah. After John dives into deep ocean water in order to retrieve her fallen purse, he and Savannah are quick to become friends. When they get closer and closer to each other, they plan to wed. But, time and distance take a toll on their commitment to each other.

Bringing its upcoming project of "Dear John" to deeper level of development, New Line Cinema has picked up "We Are Marshall" scribe Jamie Linden to be in charge of writing matters for the romantic drama.

Adapted from Nicholas Sparks' best-selling novel of the same name, the picture concerns a soldier home on leave who falls for a college girl, but opts to re-enlist after 9/11 tragedy instead of returning home to her. His decision later leads to a realization that time and distance have taken a toll on their commitment to each other.

Continues to give special attention to Nicholas Sparks' works, New Line Cinema is on the move to develop "Dear John", a big screen adaptation of another bestseller novel of the author which was published in October last year.

Set to be a touching drama feature, the project revolves around a soldier who falls hard for a gorgeous but conservative college student yet later sadly finds out that time and distance have taken a toll on their commitment to each other. No word yet on who will write or direct, but it is learned that Channing Tatum has been attached to star in.

I just found out they made the movie!! I am so excited. It's my absolute favorite and I have gotten soo many people to read the book. I cannot wait for the movie. I hope they come out with it this year. I dont think I could wait till 2010

I absolutely LOVE Nicholas Sparks books especially Dear John. I love the book soo much that I have read it countless times. I don't think I can wait until 2010 for it to come out. I pray that the movie is as good as the book. FYI, Channing Tatum is an excellent choice, he's great.

can't wait to see more about the film. it's funny because as i read it, before the moive was going to be made, i thought that Channing Tatum would be the perfect John. not so sure about Amanda Seyfried. but im still really excited. book is my number one!

Love this book! It is one of my favorites by Nicholas Sparks. It shows people what true love is. It is about selflessness and sacrifice even if it means losing that person forever. I cried so much after reading it. It touches the heart and soul.

I just ABSOLUTELY love this book. its been my favorite book for years and i've read it well over fifty times. It holds an extremely special value to me. i'm kind of skeptical about the cast, but we'll see how it comes out!

Read the book, it made me cry... it was beautiful! loved every chapter,Nicholas Sparks is one of the best authors =) can't wait for the movie... Channing Tatum... Brilliant choice.. Cant wait.. =) XXX

I just finished the reading book...Loved it! Nicholas Sparks is Captivating! Amazing bittersweet story of True Love. I cried several times. Cant wait till the movie comes in Theaters Feb. 2010

Hopefully it will be a five but i have to agree i loved the book. it made really look at life. i don't like savannah, i mean who really sends a dear john letter to a lover thats serving our country. besides that i really hope the movie does justice. i finished the book in tears and i want to finsih the movie in tears. and i know that Channing Tatum will give justice to John. it will be really good i know it. can't wait for 2/5/10
