Nominees Listed for the 26th Annual Hong Kong Film Awards
March 29, 2007 05:03:13Coming to its twentieth six celebration of Hong Kong Film Awards, set to be held on April 15 this year, Hong Kong Film Awards Association (HKFAA) has delightfully unveiled the list of titles and names nominated for this most prestigious film awards in the region.
Becoming the most nominated one is epic feature "Curse of the Golden Flower" as it fantastically scooped up fourteen nominations in total, notably the top prize of Best Film and Best Director for Zhang Yimou, followed by "Fearless" and "The Banquet" with seven nods each.

Asian Movies Vying for Oscar's Slots
October 03, 2006 02:10:35Joining the competition to land a slot for Oscar's Best Foreign Film category, China and Hong Kong have finally announced their entry for the upcoming prestigious event.
Chinese news Web site Sina.com reported that China's Film Bureau has picked up "Curse of the Golden Flower" to represent the country in the competition. Directed by "Hero" helmer Zhang Yimou with Chow Yun-Fat and Gong Li as the leadstars, the picture follows the love story between a royal prince played by Chow and an imperial bodyguard portrayed by Gong set in medieval time in China.

"Curse of the Golden Flower" to Cast its Spell in America
June 27, 2006 04:06:51Asian films apparently still soar high abroad as another Chinese movie is about to be brought up beyond the continent and this time, it's Zhang Yimou's "Curse of the Golden Flower" that earned the honor. Though the release date has not yet been fixed, it is confirmed that Sony Pictures Classics has secured the North American and Latin American rights to this martial-arts romantic drama featuring two of the biggest Asian stars Chow Yun-Fat and Gong Li. "We feel 'Curse of the Golden Flower' will be a culmination of Zhang Yimou's great career," so SPC co-presidents Michael Barker and Tom Bernard explained on their reason of picking up the movie.
The ninth project Zhang has collaborated with Sony Pictures Classics, "Curse of the Golden Flower" revolves around the love story between a royal prince played by Chow and an imperial bodyguard portrayed by Gong set in medieval time in China.
