'Crash' to Be Brought to Small Screen
January 29, 2008 10:01:47The 2005 Academy Award-winning drama "Crash" is going to be brought to the small screen. On Monday, January 28, the pay cable channel, Starz network, announced that the racially charged film will be coming to television this year as a 13-episode, one-hour original drama series.
On the production team for the television series, it was said that the film's key members, Paul Haggis, Bobby Moresco, Bob Yari, Don Cheadle, Mark R. Harris and Tom Nunan, will team up once again for the series. On the returning of the original behind-the-scene team, the network's executive vice president Stephan Shelanksi commented, "The fact that key members of the film's production team are involved will ensure that our series maintains the high level of talent and creativity captured in the film."

Crash Producers Suing Bob Yari Prods. Over Movie Profits
December 05, 2007 04:12:15Two producers of Academy Award-winning picture "Crash" Paul Haggis and Robert Moresco have placed a lawsuit against the studio financing the flick, Bob Yari Productions, stating they are owed more than $4.7 million in profit from the movie distribution.
As reported by Variety, the legal papers, filed last week in L.A. Superior Court, pointed out that both Haggis and Moresco had entered into a series of agreements under which they were entitled to receive a three-tiered contingent compensation depending on the picture's financial success. In the film, Haggis also served as the writer and director with Moresco having a screenplay credit as well.

"Crash" Screenplay Awarded Humanitas Prize

For their impressive work, the two were granted $25,000 from $145,000 prize money shared with other nine winning writers at a luncheon at the Hilton Universal Hotel.

The film's producer Cathy Schulman remarked "I hope it will air in the next year". Actors from the film, like Sandra Bullock, Terrence Howard, Matt Dillon and Don Cheadle, reportedly will show up in the TV version. In the meantime, Cheadle also will serve as producer and be on at least a few episodes.

The 58th Writers Guild of America Awards Winners
February 06, 2006 02:02:42"Crash" and "Brokeback Mountain" both won the 58th Annual Writers Guild of America Awards held Saturday night Feb 4th. "Crash," which is of drama mystery genre, won the Best Original Screenplay award for its writers Paul Haggis and Bobby Moresco.
Meanwhile, "Brokeback Mountain," which tells the story a love affair between a pair of lonesome cowboys that spanned decades, won the Best Adapted Screenplay honors for Diana Ossana and Larry McMurtry. That being so, with such attainment the two flicks automatically established themselves as the favorites for the best movie Oscar.

The Paul Haggis direction stars the like of Sandra Bullock, Don Cheadle, Brendan Fraser, Matt Dillon, Thandie Newton, Ryan Phillippe and Jennifer Esposito.
The Deauville Film Festival actually is European showcase for mainly American movies, which's been started since September 2. In addition to "Crash," "Keane" by Lodge Kerrigan and "On the Outs" by Lori Silverbush and Michael Skolnik have both shared the Jury Prize.

The DVD, announced by Lions Gate Entertainment, will include an introduction and commentary by writer-director Paul Haggis as well as "making of" featurette and, tentatively, a music video.
