'Cowboy Bebop' Is in Rewrite
September 23, 2009 09:09:50Long without any news, the movie version of Japanese anime TV series "Cowboy Bebop" has got an update from none other than its leading man Keanu Reeves. Talking to MTV News during a press event for his upcoming "The Private Lives of Pippa Lee", the 45-year-old revealed that the film's script is getting a rewrite.
"There's a draft of the script, but the writer did such a great job [that] in order to make the movie, you would need half a billion dollars," Reeves revealed when asked about the movie project. He then added, "So the studio went, 'This movie is fantastic and it would cost half a billion dollars', so he's doing a rewrite."

Keanu Reeves Recruited for 'Cowboy Bebop'
January 17, 2009 01:01:2620th Century Fox are set to bring Japanese anime TV series "Cowboy Bebop" to the big screen and in doing so, the production house have hired Keanu Reeves to play the titular character. As being confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter, he will be landing the part as Spike Spiegel, a bounty hunter and former member of a crime syndicate, in the action movie.
Keanu Reeves has shared his admiration over the TV series, claiming it has gotten a Western quality. Earlier, the actor, who plays Klaatu in "The Day the Earth Stood Still", told MTV, "It's got so much style to it, and that's part of its appeal. That kind of Old West, bordertown, low-tech science fiction aspect."
