George Clooney Tipped as 'The Birds' Leading Man
October 25, 2008 01:10:06Rumor has it, George Clooney is going to take on the lead role in remake project, "The Birds". Bringing the rumor to the surface was Metro.co.uk which reported that Rod Taylor, the star of the original film, has been the one who pointed out the possibility of Clooney starring as lawyer Mitch Brenner.
According to the publication, Taylor has expressed his excitement to Britain's Daily Express stating, "I often cringe when I hear mention of remakes but I'll hold judgment, especially since I've been told Clooney's the favourite." Meanwhile, providing an opposing report on this casting news, ShockTillYouDrop has come out with a statement from co-producer Brad Fuller, "No one has mentioned anything to me. I am as surprised as you are."

'Casino Royale' Helmer Set to Direct Naomi Watts' 'Birds'
March 13, 2008 04:03:08The man behind several James Bond films Martin Campbell has reportedly come on board the Universal Picture's remake thriller "The Birds". According to ShockTillYouDrop, the "The Legend of Zorro" helmer will be directing Australian actress Naomi Watts in the Alfred Hitchcock's 1963 thriller remake.
Campbell will also team up with screenwriters Stiles White and Juliet Snowden as well as producers, that include Bradley Fuller, Michael Bay and Cathy Schulman. Aside from this film project, the director of "Casino Royale" and "Golden Eye" has been involved in the production of action movie starring Robert De Niro and George Clooney "36" as well as the 20th Century Fox's "Unstoppable".

October 19, 2007 03:10:12It's true, the actress finally is back to the horror genre after the "Ring" series. Variety has come up with report confirming that Naomi Watts is set to topline "The Birds", Universal Pictures' new version of the 1963 Alfred Hitchcock-directed feature.
Watts has long been rumored to be cast for the project, which Universal intends to have it developed as a re-imagining of the Daphne Du Maurier short story, the original source that inspired Hitchcock to make the classic. Apart from the beauty, it is also revealed that "Casino Royale" maker Martin Campbell is in negotiation with the studio to direct.

"Birds" to be Hatched in Platinum Dunes' Nest
July 03, 2006 10:07:43While "The Hitcher" is still in production, Platinum Dunes apparently cannot wait a little bit longer to come up with another film remake as producer Brad Fuller has revealed that the company is developing "The Birds", a new version of Alfred Hitchcock's 1963 suspense classic of the same name, so IGN has reported.
Even so, the movie is likely to present different characters and plot from the original one though the story is based on the same short story that Hitchcock had adapted before. "The concept of birds, certainly, that's the core of the movie but the situations and the plot come from the short story not from the Hitchcock film," Fuller stated firmly.
