i love watching true story fim. This is an excellent film with true characters in real life which were played by Raph & Susan. Raph plays very well in his butler role with a touch of feminine for his last make-up souper with Susan. While Susan with her big eyes try to show her emotions as she can not speak because of her stroke before she died.Without these 2 excellents actors, this film can not hynotized me.They have both elegant and graceful manners in their role.Mostly i love is Doris Duke various generous well-established donation foundations after she died. The ending is very superb. The richness from Doris Duke is her legacy of set up charity foundation for many causes which our society can not forget her. A really smart and very intelligent lady. If you like classic, you must like this film.

I absolutely adore Ralph Fiennes. He brings in a spark of life and individuality to every role of his. In Bernard and Doris he is moving and incredibly believable. I think that this heartbreaking effect of the movie is achieved through music to a great extend. The music, both instumental and songs, accentuate the story and acting and create a very powerful fusion which may be what the magic of this film is all about.

Wonderful acting from both. Ralph Fiennes is astonishing heartbreaking in this girl-man role.

I thought the film, which just now finished playing on HBO, was rather good, though the a film of Doris Duke's life is full of everything except happiness. There's a gloomy cast to the whole movie. Ralph Fiennes is superb as Bernard ... this role would have been bland except for what Ralph put into the characterization. Susan Sarandon was, as always, excellent in her own way. I'm now looking for a list of all the songs used in the film, especially the one that accompanies the credits at the end of the film. I've looked for a list, but can't find anything yet.
