'Baby Mama' Denied 'Harold and Kumar' Box Office Glory
April 28, 2008 09:04:12Criticized to be lacking the great touch of other great comedy movies, "Baby Mama" proved critics wrong by debuting strongly at the North American box office. Highlighting on the comedic situation resulting from the different characteristic of the two lead characters, the comedy movie about surrogate motherhood apparently collected more laughters than the two-stoners sequel comedy "Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay" by landing the top slot of the ticket sales tracker by the end of Sunday, April 27.
Screened in 2,543 theaters across the U.S., the comedy film that brings up the story of an infertile successful business woman who tries to have baby by finding a surrogate mother managed to snag $17.4 million. The success of Michael McCullers's film in overpassing others in terms of revenue marked the first time Universal deliver a number one movie this year as well as the first time comedy film with female lead debuted atop the box office since Kate Hudson's "Fool's Gold" back in early February 2008.

Tina Fey's 'Baby Mama' Lacking Final Touch
April 22, 2008 10:04:12Picking up a story that many career women nowadays could relate to, "Baby Mama" is setting its pace to be one of the great comedy movies. Sadly, some critics believe that the Universal Pictures' film perhaps could never be compared to Judd Apatow's films in the same genre. Noting that though it has what it takes to force a laughter out of the audience's mouths, it still falls short of being considered a fabulous movie.
Despite its effort in pairing up the two brilliant "Saturday Night Live" stars, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler and supported them with other caliber actors Sigourney Weaver and Steve Martin, this comedy film is still contemplated by Reuters as a movie that "never fully delivers". Adding to the critics, The Money Times commented that though the film is "not a washout", it will still leave moviegoers "feeling 'that could have been a fabulous movie!'" since though there are many cracking moments, it is not lasting until the end.

Four 'Baby Mama' TV Spots Online
April 19, 2008 01:04:37Four new "Baby Mama" TV spots have come out on the interwebs. Exposing the comedic situation faced by Kate Holbrook as she deals with Angie Ostrowiski, her baby-to-be's surrogate mother, the four compilation clips showcase pretty much the same content with slight differences with a varied running time from 15 seconds to 26 seconds.
Focusing on showing off the contrasting characters of the two leading roles, the footages let out glimpses of the clashing between the two women as serious Holbrook and slacker Ostrowiski have to live under one roof and deal with their differences, especially about the baby. TV spots #1 and #2 start with the same clip which previews Holbrook sitting on a bathroom sink with pregnancy test kit on her hand followed by doctor's explanation that she couldn't have baby. The third spot opens with Holbrook trying to touch the baby in front of her in a stuffed elevator, whereas the last spot is merely a jumble of the first two spots' opening.
