"" has finally got its release date. In their recent announcement concerning this family adventure movie, Paramount Pictures and Sony Pictures revealed that the first film of the "Tintin" planned trilogy will be arriving in U.S. theaters on December 23, 2011.

While being set to hit the U.S. market just days before Christmas, the movie will see international release around a month earlier. According to Variety, the international rollout will begin weeks earlier, starting from late October 2011. Sony will handle the continental Europe, Latin America and India, and Paramount are to distribute it in Asia, Australia, the United Kingdom and all other English-speaking territories.

While words are running wild that writer Edgar Wright is the potential director of "Tintin 3", the 35-year-old filmmaker himself has slammed down the speculation. When contacted by Slash Film in relation to the flying rumor, the director of "" responded, "Not that I know of. But hey, rumors are fun."

The possibility of Wright being the man behind the lens for the third "Tintin" installment came up after his profile in Internet Movie Database was updated. The director/writer of 2004 zombie comedy "Shaun of the Dead" is now listed to be in talks for the directing position in the yet-to-be-titled third "Tintin".

Empire Magazine has got an exclusive first look at Steven Spielberg-directed "The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn" and made it available for viewing pleasure. Taken during the down time on the set, the image captures Spielberg directing and , who are both wearing performance capture suits, with Peter Jackson standing by.

The photo came off the mag's 20th birthday issue which has the Academy Award-winning director serving as a guest editor. The issue scheduled to hit newsstands next Thursday, April 23, will also bring forth more from the 62-year-old helmer as well as "more pictures, and more on the cast involved," including Nick Frost and who will be seen as Thomson and Thompson.

Steven Spielberg's motion-capture 3-D feature, "The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn", has finally moved forward. Paramount Pictures and Sony Pictures Entertainment have announced that the first of possible three "Tintin" installments has begun its principal photography in Los Angeles on Monday, January 26.

Along with the start of production announcement, it was also revealed that and have joined the star-studded voice cast ensemble. Having worked together in the Edward Zwick-directed war movie "", the two will be co-stars once again as Bell is set to voice the titular character, young reporter Tintin, and Craig will lend his voice to evil pirate Red Rackham.

The circulating rumor about and Nick Frost being cast as Thomson and Thompson in "Tintin" may end up to be true after all. Ain't It Cool News (AICN) recently let out confirmation that both Pegg and Frost are coming in to play the pair of clumsy detectives who are almost completely alike.

If this story is proven to be true as words from both Paramount and Sony of this latest casting reports have yet to be thrown out, the two English actors could be joining , who is set to play Tintin's best friend, Captain Haddock, in the live-action project. Universal Pictures have backed out from their plan to finance "Tintin" trilogy. L.A. Times reported that the studio have recoiled from the Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson's proposed 3-D animated films after Spielberg and Jackson submitted a final budget tally of $130 million.

The rejection of Universal forces the director duo to find another financial partner because Paramount Pictures, with which Spielberg has been developing the project, only agreed to finance half the trilogy. The decision to decline "Tintin" funding is said to be possibly caused by today's tough economic climate, stressing that it had nothing to do with the content of the films or the filmmaker duo.

Well, this probably is the dream team moviegoers ever wish to see on. Two acclaimed behind-the-camera figures, none other than Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson, have joined forces together to bring up the famous Belgian comic books "The Adventures of Tintin" to the silver screen.

Variety has reported that the two filmmakers are both set to direct and produce three back-to-back features based on the series at DreamWorks' pit where the projects will be made in full digital 3-D using performance capture technology. Jackson's WETA Digital even has produced a 20-minute test reel bringing to life the characters, created by George Remi who wrote under the pen name of Herge.
