Lineup Announced for 19th Palm Springs Film Festival
December 19, 2007 03:12:43Assembling the slate for the 2008 edition of the annually-held event, Palm Springs Film Festival organizers have selected 222 film titles from over sixty countries to be screened during the festival's run on January 3-14, 2008.
"We've streamlined the Festival line-up this year, trimming the overall numbers while adding some exciting new features and showcases," Festival Director Darryl Macdonald remarked. "The result is a richer and more focused event that maintains the Festival's concentration on quality international programming, while highlighting the diversity of its offerings in a more accessible, audience-friendly way."

2007 Chicago Film Critics Association Awards Champs Announced
December 17, 2007 03:12:47Kudos appear to keep flowing for "No Country for Old Men", and the most recent ones have come from the Chicago Film Critics Association. Coming to the 20th celebration of its CFCA Awards, the organization has deemed the crime drama thriller the big winner of the event by giving the flick four prizes altogether.
The Miramax Films release gloriously landed top honor of Best Picture while scoring its helming duo, brothers Joel and Ethan Coen, both the Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay trophies. Another of Best Supporting Actor went to Javier Bardem for his acclaimed portrayal of Anton Chigurh in the movie.

2007 European Film Awards Nominees Listed
November 05, 2007 10:11:36The "European Oscar" is about to roll once again now that the European Film Academy officially announced contenders for its European Film Awards this year on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at the Seville Film Festival.
Selecting a number of acclaimed titles and names, the Academy gives special attention to British royal family drama "The Queen" by granting it six nods in total, thereby putting the flick on top of the list. Nominations given included those of best picture, best actress for Helen Mirren, and best director for Stephen Frears.

Early Lineup Confirmed for the 32nd TIFF
June 23, 2007 02:06:05Though the official announcement won't come up until Tuesday, June 26, a series of film features have been confirmed to be screened at this year's Toronto International Film Festival with Jeremy Podeswa's "Fugitive Pieces" becoming the opening movie for the event as it comes to shape on September 6, 2007.
Locking in well-known titles, the festival has reportedly submitted the Coen Brothers' Cannes competition entry "No Country for Old Men" and period drama "Elizabeth: The Golden Age" in the list. Also included in the lineup are foreign productions like "4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days" and "The Flight of the Red Balloon" as well as local flicks "The Tracey Fragments" and "Shake Hands with the Devil."
