ZZ Top Signed a Deal With Rick Rubin's Label
July 03, 2008 02:07:03After previously confirming to the press that they will tap Rick Rubin to produce their new album, legendary rockers ZZ Top look forward to go all the way with the renown producer by signing to his label American Recordings. According to their manager Carl Stubner, by fully collaborating with Rubin, the band hopefully can enjoy a commercial success as well as critical revitalization at the same time.
Moreover, on the upcoming studio set Stubner stated that the band will try to create a kind of pop friendly '80s sound. Revealing about the new things that the band will be doing on their upcoming LP, the manager said, "We thought this was a great brand that was kind of dusty. My goal was to polish it and do certain things they hadn't done before."
ZZ Top Tap Rick Rubin for New Album
June 17, 2008 04:06:55ZZ Top are set to return to the music scene by releasing their new album since 2003 and for the new project they will tap renown producer Rick Rubin. The news was stated by the rock legend's guitarist Billy Gibbons during an exclusive interview with BW&BK.
Revealing the new album plans to the Canadian metal magazine Billy said, "That starts pretty soon. We just inked a deal with Rick Rubin that will be announced shortly." Expressing his excitement of working with Rick, Billy added, "I'm sure he's got plans to make way to drag us off the touring trail back into the studio, which will be a nice excursion."
ZZ Top Scrap Off European Leg

ZZ Top's European Summer Tour has been cancelled due to bassist Dusty Hill's ear problem. The tour which was scheduled to kick off June 15 in Leipzig, Germany will have to be scrapped off.
Dusty has to go through a treatment for a growth in his ear which is affecting his hearing. It was reported on May 10 that Dusty was to undergo a chemotherapy but Dr Shawn Nasseri who is treating him said that the preliminary treatment will not include that or surgery. "In the near-term, we plan to stabilize Dusty's hearing and symptoms with medication and a conservative management strategy," he said.

Reports on blues rock band ZZ Top's new album is coming sooner than expected. After announcing their departure from RCA Records and their leave from Lone Wolf Management in late 2006, people thought that it would be another long journey before they complete the 15th studio album. Indeed, there are about 50 songs readily available.
Bassist Dusty Hill said that ideas are streaming down their spine but none has made the cut yet. "As soon as we can write it, put it down and make a deal, but I don't really know how long that takes," he said. "We've come up with about 50 of them so I hesitate to even bring them up."
VH1 Rock Honors Lines Up Tributing Artists

After announcing the names of honorees, VH1 Rock Honors gives away the list of performers on the May 12 night. The second year will feature Queens of the Stone Age, Alice in Chains, Nickelback, Keane and also Gretchen Wilson as the tribute artists.
The order of honors will go as follow: Queens of the Stone Age for Ozzy Osbourne, Nickelback for ZZ Top, Gretchen Wilson and Alice in Chains for Heart, and Keane for Genesis. The event that takes place at Las Vegas' Mandalay Bay Events Center will be hosted by reality show actor slash skateboarder Bam Margera.

The likes of Rod Stewart, Norah Jones and Brad Paisley are among the headliners for this year's New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. The threesome will join other performers, including Irma Thomas, Dr. John and Allen Toussaint just to name a few.
The festival, spanning two weekends in April and May, will feature hundreds of the city's most beloved musicians and a host of national headliners at the New Orleans Fair Grounds, a horse-racing track that flooded and was seriously damaged by Hurricane Katrina.
ZZ Top Reissue Classic Sets
December 17, 2005 11:12:32The classic collections of American rock band ZZ Top, mainly the "Tres Hombres" and "Fandango!" are about to be reissued in expanded editions February 28 next year via Warner Bros. label. Each set will feature three previously unreleased live versions of songs from their respective studio albums.
As for everybody to know, "Tres Hombres" was ZZ Top's third album released in 1973 and has become the group's first to hit the top 10. As of the new version, it's rounded out with live versions of the album's singles "La Grange" and "Jesus Just Left Chicago."

Days ago MTV cancelled its Latin America Music Video Awards ceremony, which slated to be held Thursday night in a seaside park south of Cancun. Just now, rock band ZZ Top has canceled two weekend concerts in Florida that include Friday's show at Centennial Park in Fort Myers and their appearance at Saturday's Biketoberfest at the new Destination Daytona complex in nearby Ormond Beach.
