June 25, 2009 03:06:08"The Dark Knight" was a big winner at the 35th Annual Saturn Awards. The Warner Bros.' movie grabbed five trophies at the event held on Wednesday, June 24. It was honored as the Best Action-Adventure Thriller and the late Heath Ledger, who played Joker in the action hero movie, was named Best Supporting Actor. The sequel of "Batman Begins" also scored awards for its writing, music and special effects.
Also winning big at the awards gala were "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" and "Iron Man", each of which earned three awards. "Benjamin Button" grabbed nods for the Best Fantasy Film, Best Supporting Actress for Tilda Swinton and Best Make-Up. Meanwhile, "Iron Man" won the awards of Best Science Fiction Film, Best Actor for Robert Downey Jr. and Best Director for Jon Favreau.
'The Love Guru' Sweeps 2009 Razzies

Nominated for five categories, the Marco Schnabel-directed film landed three titles, including Worst Picture.
For the Worst Picture throphy, "Guru" won over "Disaster Movie", "Meet the Spartans", "The Happening", "The Hottie and the Nottie" and "In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale". Aside from that award, the comedy movie also grabbed Worst Actor for its leading star Mike Myers and Worst Screenplay for both Myers and Graham Gordy.
51st Grammys: 'Wall-E' Collects Two Grammys

On Sunday, February 8, the Disney/Pixar animated film has taken home two kudos, including Best Song Written for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media for Peter Gabriel and Thomas Newman's "Down To Earth".
Aside from the best song prize, the Andrew Stanton-directed robot romance film has also grabbed Best Instrumental Arrangement kudo for its "Define Dancing" track, which was also arranged by Gabriel and Newman. The film, which "Down To Earth" song has also been nominated for the 81st Academy Awards, has been given the awards during the pre-telecast awards at Los Angeles' Staples Center.

Movie Nominees of 13th Annual Art Directors Guild Awards
January 10, 2009 11:01:54Honoring the excellence in production design, the Art Directors Guild announced its nominees for the 2008 Excellence in Production Design Awards on Friday, January 9. Among those in the awards' shortlist are Gus Van Sant's gay icon biopic "Milk", Christopher Nolan's superhero film "The Dark Knight" and Danny Boyle's rag-to-riches drama "Slumdog Millionaire".
"Milk" received the nod for the period film category. It will be up against "Changeling", "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button", "Doubt" and "Frost/Nixon". "Dark Knight", on the other hand, is on the run for best production design for a fantasy film alongside "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull", "Iron Man", "The Spiderwick Chronicles" and "Wall-E".

From the announcement, it is revealed that the movie categories have been dominated by blockbuster superheroes movies from "The Dark Knight" to "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull".
Leading the pack is "Dark Knight". Aside from collecting gongs for its installment, "Dark Knight" has also brought in nods for its cast and crew. Four of the Warner Bros. Though shunned away from the list of film up for Cannes' top prize, Palme d'Or, "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" and "Kung Fu Panda" will be making their world premiere on the event.
"Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" has earlier rumored to be rolling out its red carpet at the fest on May 18 and despite the fact that it has been announced to be among the films screened at the event, the confirmed date has yet to be unveiled. On the case of "Panda", Variety reported that the film featuring the voices of Jack Black and Angelina Jolie will be viewed on May 15. Uwe Boll's 'Postal' Ready to Challenge 'Indy 4'

According to Slash Film, the release date's announcement has been made by Uwe Boll, the mastermind behind the film, himself.
Quoting the director/producer of "House of the Dead", Slash noted, "On the Indiana Jones weekend - May 23 - we will go out and destroy Indiana Jones in the Box Office! We all know that Harrison Ford is older as my grandpa and his time is up - would Michael Moore say!" It was further claimed that the "BloodRayne" helmer commented, "Spielberg gets sloppy. The horror remake "The Omen" makes a surprise take in. The much-talked flick debuted Tuesday June 6th, 2006 with a strong $12.6 million, such amount prompted WLNS.com, the Website for the Lansing, Michigan, TV station, to proclaim: "The Omen Becomes Largest Opening Movie in History."
Though not becoming the biggest opening in Liev Schreiber's history, still the $12.6 million did distinguish the movie from the highest-grossing Tuesday ever, topping the likes of "The Lord of the Rings: The Return of The King" ($12.5 million in 2003) and "Independence Day" ($11.1 million in 1996).

While there won't be official soundtrack for the highly anticipated flick "Superman Returns", Rhino Entertainment is planning to release "Sounds of Superman", which is the soundtrack CD of the film.
Due June 13th later this year, the set contains several fun covers, including R.E.M.'s "Superman" by The Academy Is ..., The Kinks' "(Wish I Could Fly Like) Superman" by The Sun, Donovan's "Sunshine Superman" by The Films, and Foo Fighters' "My Hero" by Paramore.
