June 29, 2009 01:06:182009 BET Awards has been wrapped, and it is revealed that Beyonce Knowles led its winners list with two nods. She received her first award in Best Female R&B Artist category, beating Keyshia Cole, Keri Hilson, Jennifer Hudson and Jazmine Sullivan.
Then, Beyonce added another trophy with Video of the Year prize, thanks to her "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" music video. During her acceptance speech when collecting this award, she thanked Michael Jackson.
Taraji P. Henson Is Mom in 'The Karate Kid' Remake
June 03, 2009 03:06:18Jaden Smith's on-screen mother in "The Karate Kid" remake has been found in Taraji P. Henson. The Academy Award-nominated actress revealed her involvement with the project to MTV on the red carpet of the network's 2009 Movie Awards show. "I'm off to Beijing [soon] to work on a film," she gushed. "They're remaking 'The Karate Kid'."
"Jaden Smith - Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith's son - is playing the karate kid. I'm playing his mom," the 38-year-old went on explaining. "And Jackie Chan is playing Mr. Miyagi." Words are, her character is called Sherry, a single mother who has to move with her son to China in order to keep her job.

On Thursday night, February 12, the female-driven drama that has dominated the awards nominations with nine nods walked away with two top honors, the Outstanding Motion Picture as well as Outstanding Directing in a Motion Picture for its helmer Gina Prince-Bythewood.
For the Outstanding Motion Picture title, the movie about a tormented young girl finding solace in the world of beekeeping beat out "Cadillac Records", "Miracle at St. Anna", "Seven Pounds" and "The Family That Preys". Announced by Academy president Sid Ganis and Academy Award-winner Forest Whitaker at the Academy's Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, the nominations were dominated by "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button".
Having been shunned away from any kudos at the 66th Golden Globe Awards, the David Fincher's drama has picked up 13 nods, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Supporting Actress for Taraji P. Henson and Best Leading Actor for Brad Pitt. The movie about a man born in his eighties has landed a Best Original Score nomination for composer Alexandre Desplat, and received seven gongs for technical categories as well.
Three Clips of Bill Duke's Drama 'Not Easily Broken'
January 06, 2009 01:01:27Less than a week from the theatrical debut of "Not Easily Broken", Sony Pictures have let out three short clips of this uplifting drama about love and family. The three sneak peeks take their focus on Morris Chestnut's character, Dave Johnson, as he deals with his troubled marriage to Clarice Johnson.
The first clip entitled "Tree Visits Dave" displays the time Tree comes to Dave's motel room. While Tree insists to discuss their relationship problems, Dave ushers him away. Meanwhile, the second clip presents the scene where Dave and Clarice have a dinner with several others in a restaurant. When it is time to pay the check, Clarice insists that they should pay for the meal despite Dave's disapproval.

In the announcement made by Angela Bassett and Eric McCormack, it was revealed that the movie received five counts, including nod for outstanding performance by a motion picture cast.
For the cast ensemble title, "Doubt" will have to face tough contenders, "Frost/Nixon", "Milk", "Slumdog Millionaire" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button". Beside the cast ensemble category, the movie about sexual and religious power struggles at a Bronx Catholic school in 1964 has also secured nominations for each of its major cast member, Meryl Streep for leading actress category, and Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amy Adams and Viola Davis for the supporting actor and actress categories.
'The Dark Knight' Is Austin Film Critics' Best of 2008
December 17, 2008 10:12:53"The Dark Knight" keeps on collecting more and more nominations and awards from various film critics association. On Tuesday, December 16, the summer's blockbuster superhero movie has been named the year's Best Film by the Austin Film Critics Association (AFCA) at its fourth end-of-the-year awards.
Adding to the awards' collection, "Dark Knight" has also earned four other kudos from the AFCA. It won Best Original Score for James Newton Howard and Hans Zimmerman, Best Adapted Screenplay for Jonathan Nolan and Christopher Nolan, the latter who was also honored as Best Director for his work with the movie, and Best Supporting Actor for the late Joker's depicter, Heath Ledger.

December 10, 2008 11:12:28On Tuesday, December 9, the Broadcast Film Critics Association (BFCA) has unveiled their selections of movies and performers to compete in the 14th annual Critics' Choice Awards. Through the press conference at the MTV Network studios in Times Square, it is revealed that both "Milk" and "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" have shown strong domination with eight nominations for the awards.
The two drama movies will be up against each other in five categories, Best Picture, Best Director, Best Writer, Best Composer, Best Acting Ensemble and Best Actor, Sean Penn for "Milk" and Brad Pitt for "Benjamin Button". Beside those nods, "Milk" has also given two Best Supporting Actor gongs for James Franco and Josh Brolin, while "Benjamin Button" lands Best Actress count for Cate Blanchett and Best Supporting Actress nomination for Taraji P. Henson.

After the plan of joining Billy Bob Thornton in the new movie, "Peace Like a River", Brad Pitt is heading for an aging role.
Pitt is going to play as Benjamin Button in the new silver screen drama, entitled "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button". This piece will also reunite him with a Hollywood movie director, David Fincher, who once directed Jodie Foster in "Panic Room". Fincher also handled Madonna and Sting in some of their video clips.
