Nominees for the 29th Annual Genie Awards Unveiled
February 11, 2009 01:02:04The Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television (ACCT) have announced the nominees for the 29th Annual Genie Awards. Leading the pack for the awards honoring the best in Canadian film was "The Necessities of Life". The movie about an Inuit hunter stranded in a Quebec hospital collected eight gongs, including best picture, best director for Benoit Pilon and best original screenplay for Bernard Emond.
In the category of best pictures, Pilon's film will be up against "Amal", "Normal", "Passchendaele" and "Everything Is Fine". Meanwhile, for the best original screenplay title, it placed Bernard Emond in competition with Deepa Mehta of "Heaven on Earth", Travis McDonald of "Normal", Randall Cole of "Real Time" and Guillaume Vigneault of "Everything Is Fine".

The film couple engaged after the director proposed during a romantic break in Italy. The pair is said to stop by at Lake Como, on their way to the 64th annual Venice Film Festival, where Wright asked Pike to be his wife.

Joining forces together, Hollywood names consisting of Rosamund Pike, Tom Wilkinson, Alan Cumming, Richard E. Grant, and Timothy Spall have all agreed to lend their voices to "Jackboots on Whitehall", a WWII spoof animated comedy of Britain's Swipe Films production.
Also lining up the U.K voice cast like Richard O'Brien and Pam Ferris, the project gives an alternative story of WWII with presenting what would have happened had Germany invaded Britain but were then defeated by the Scots at the border with England.

"The OC" star Mischa Barton has topped a new poll on the Most Eligible Women in the United Kingdom. While the actress is right on the top, fellow star Naomi Watts is at 2, followed behind at No. 3 by Kate Moss.
The survey conducted by FHM magazine involved of over 3,000 readers who rated stars on sex appeal, talent, star quality and cash. And their choice next goes to Joss Stone who is voted the 4th and Zara Phillips at 5th.
