51st Grammys: 'Wall-E' Collects Two Grammys
February 09, 2009 09:02:50"Wall-E" was among the early winners at the 51st annual Grammy Awards. On Sunday, February 8, the Disney/Pixar animated film has taken home two kudos, including Best Song Written for Motion Picture, Television or Other Visual Media for Peter Gabriel and Thomas Newman's "Down To Earth".
Aside from the best song prize, the Andrew Stanton-directed robot romance film has also grabbed Best Instrumental Arrangement kudo for its "Define Dancing" track, which was also arranged by Gabriel and Newman. The film, which "Down To Earth" song has also been nominated for the 81st Academy Awards, has been given the awards during the pre-telecast awards at Los Angeles' Staples Center.
Former Genesis Lead Vocalist Peter Gabriel Welcomed Fourth Child

The musician, first came to fame as the lead vocalist of rock group Genesis, is a father for the fourth time when his second wife Meabh Flynn gave birth to a baby boy last week.
Gabriel announced the birth of his son on his website. The infant, called Luc, was born on Saturday, July 5. He weighed in 7Ib 2oz. The posting on his website furthermore revealed that "mother, father and baby brother are all doing well, and requests that any congratulatory flowers people may contemplate sending be left to grow in the ground for all to enjoy."

Looks like it's the year for Amy Winehouse. Apart from chart topping album, happiness of newly wed, and not mentioning a worldwide exposure for career, she had just won the Ivor Novello Award for "Rehab".
Initially in US, she flew back to her country to receive the Best Contemporary Song honor. "Thank you all very much," said the 23 years old singer. "I didn't even have time to get drunk - I've only been here about 15 minutes." This winning is her second as she won the same category in 2004 through the song "Stronger Than Me".
Genesis Reveals Tour Dates for Its Fans

With increasing anticipation running up and down on Genesis' upcoming tour, the band has no choice but to announce the dates and venues. The band will make BMO Field in Toronto the preliminary site on September 7 and Hollywood Bowl the final stop on October 12. Within the dates, several other big venues all over Europe and 13 cities across America will also be visited.
Unfortunately, former frontman Peter Gabriel will not be joining the lots. Instead, the tour will feature threesome; Phil Collins in the drum, Tony Banks in Keyboard and also Mike Rutherford in the guitar. However, Collins stated that the chance of Gabriel joining them in other future projects is still large. "It's not like it's a party that we're holding that Peter didn't come to," Collins explained during a news conference.

The World Wrestling Entertainment, better known as the WWE, is forming its own official Music Group called the WWE Music Group. The group is first scheduled to perform on April 2nd on WrestleMania, the Chicago's Allstate Arena.
Rock band P.O.D. is the first music act set to perform in the action, performing for wrestler Rey Mysterio, playing his entrance theme on the ring. Peter Gabriel's "Big Time" is the event's theme.

In addition to songs that did not appear on the 2003 "Growing Up Live" DVD; "San Jacinto," "Biko," "Games Without Frontiers," "Come Talk to Me" and "The Feeling Begins," the double-disc set also features alternate live performances of hits like "Sledgehammer," "Red Rain," "Solsbury Hill," "In Your Eyes" and "Digging in the Dirt," plus a clip of "No Self Control" from the 1988 tour film "P.O.V."
The second disc of the DVD will feature a tour documentary shot by Gabriel's daughter Ana in tandem with Hamish Hamilton. Also there are some bonus features, which among others include footage of Gabriel and his band working through "No Way Out," "Growing Up" and "Darkness" in the studio well in advance of the 2002 tour and performances of "Downside Up" and "Father, Son" on the BBC's "Later... With Jools Holland." Later, on October 8, Gabriel will be seen as part of the 60th anniversary of the United Nations that will also raise awareness of malaria prevention.
